Spring into colour with Swims, Yoga Jeans, FRAAS and mark.!

SWIMS Women's Penny Loafer in Peony Leather - $189 - features a waterproof spin on the classic loafer with an outer sole made with natural rubber for superior grip on any boat deck or slippery surface or just walking in the rain. Features a non-marking sole, ventilating gills around shoe base to provide superior breathability, and a foot bed made in anti-bacterial and odor-resistant EVA for excellent and durable comfort. Also available in other styles and colours including corals, blues and greens.

Yoga Jeans by Second Skin Denim has fresh new colours for Spring 2013 including pastels, neutrals and neon brights which just like their premium denim blues combine the true comfort and flexibility of a yoga garment with a trendy five-pocket design. From high-rise to low rise, skinny or straight, ankle and capri - there is something to flatter all shapes and sizes!

A pair will set you back around $130 and if you're in Toronto you can find them at Shopgirls - 1342 Queen Street West - otherwise check out the store locator at www.secondclothing.com to find them near you.
The nice thing about spring is the warm up in weather, the tricky thing about it though is the weather can turn on a dime and go from pleasant to cool in a matter of minutes - so not only is a scarf a fashion statement, it can also take the chill off! I'm especially taken with FRAAS Mystical Waters Scarf - 40 x 72 - $48 - choose from Turquoise or Coral and big enough you can wear it in a multiple of ways - there are actually some amazing how-to videos on Youtube for tying scarves if you're as useless at it as I am!

Available online at fraas.com or amazon.com. Or by calling the company at 212-575-0191.
mark. Big Mix Up Bracelets - $20 - a 6 bracelet set featuring a mix of tones and textures plus coordinating leaf charms that can be worn individually or stacked together.

and my favourite:

Nexxus Hydra-Light Leave-In Conditioning Foam - 162ml - $12.99 - with a unique foam format that provides weightless nourishment to restore softness and shine.

I use a leave-in conditioner daily but sometimes feel the spray kind is adding too much product to my fine hair and making it feel weighed down. No such problem with the foam, it moisturizes but keeps my hair feeling light and bouncy all the while protecting my hair from styling stress!

Fragrant Friday - Just Cavalli by Roberto Cavalli

Roberto Cavalli has a new creamy-floral scent meant to convey youth and seduction:

Just Cavalli by Roberto Cavalli - 50ml EDT - $66, 75ml EDT - $79, 150ml Shower Gel - $19, 150ml Body Lotion - $25 - with a top note of nerolli; a heart note of Tahitian Tiare flower; and a base note of creamy palissander wood accord.

As you know, I am not a big fan of floral scents, but I don't mind this one. It's not your traditional flowery-floral but more of a warm floral - it's very sexy smelling! And unlike many florals that just become more flowery on my skin, this one keeps the warmness with just a hint of floral - I am really loving it!

Available at The Bay, Sears, Shoppers Drug Mart and Sephora.

Fave lips and tips from the Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess collection - with swatches!

I get my summer sizzle on with a couple of hot shades from the Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Summer 2013 collection:
Pure Color Sheer RollerGloss in Succulent - if you remember Kissing Potions, this is the same format - the roller all applicator feels nice and cool on the lips and as you can see, the colour isn't anywhere as dramatic as it appears in the tube but does give lots of shine - and the scent is amazingly fruity!

I have pretty long lashes to begin with so my before and after was not that noticeable so here's one from someone less blessed in the natural lash department. This week I'm obsessed with... Maybelline and Redken's David Dixon looks!

Lots of people go to Fashion Week wanting to see hair and makeup that is avant garde and really crazy - and while I agree that can be fun when I go backstage at the shows, I want to see looks that are easily wearable outside of a circus and that will work in my everyday hair and makeup routine.

The styling for the David Dixon show was a perfect example of  a beauty look that can be worn by everyone - for the makeup - Lead Makeup Artist for Maybelline Canada, Grace Lee came up with a look that meshed perfectly with David's feminine and classic collection.

Flawless looking and glowing skin was achieved with Fit Me Foundation and a bit of highlighting from a mixture of Too Cool Color Tattoo and Baby Lips. Brows were defined with Master Shape Brow Pencil and Great Lash Clear Mascara. Eyes are highlighted with Too Cool and Silver Strike Color Tattoo as well as the not yet released Big Eyes Dual Mascara. The punch of colour comes from the lips with a combo of On Fire Red Vivid Lipstick and Gleaming Grenadine High Shine Gloss.

Meanwhile Redken Lead Artist, Jorge Joao designed a look that is ladylike but a little undone so as not to be the least bit prissy with a little help from Redken faves: Fabricate 03, Fashion Works 12 and Quick Tease 15.

It may be from a Fall/Winter show but I don't see anything about this look that doesn't make it also perfect for right now!

The Most Amazing Pony Outfit Ever Made - by Katie Price

I rarely blog these days, but I HAD TO share this picture of my favorite reality TV "celeb", Katie Price, Queen of all iPods, promoting yet another collection of riding gear, dressed in this marvelous outfit. This picture made me spit out my dessert all over my keyboard. And you know how much I love dessert...
Also note that the right way to accessorize a fluffy pink pony dress/jumpsuit/insert appropriate word? is definitely with white stripper shoes! Of course.

Yes, if ridiculous outfits could kill, this would be the ultimate weapon of mass destruction and Katie would be an evil genius. Hmm wait.

Now, Hermès pulled something almost as ridiculous: for a mere $91,000 you too can wear a.... ahem black t-shirt. Even if this top is made out of crocodile skin, the price tag is really silly! I can't wait for the recession to be over, then maybe we'll get million dollar t-shirts in stores. You read it here first!

Gingers can rejoice with Pureology Reviving Red!

I love being a redhead but as I, or any other (bottled) redhead will attest to -  the colour fades so freaking fast that in my books any product that can help slow that down is something worth shouting about from the rooftops!
Enter Pureology Reviving Red - an oil-based colour care system - formulated with specialized ingredients such as fair trade jaljala oil - to nourish and replenish, encapsulated lycopene - a powerful antioxidant responsible for red pigmentation in red fruits and vegetables and oleo antifade complex - to replenish and help colour last longer - designed to revive reds and coppers keeping them looking bright and ravishing for up to 30 washes!

Available in the line:

Reviving Red Shamp'Oil - 250ml - $28.50 - with a concentrated oil-infused formula free of sulfates and parabens that replenishes the protective lipid layer of the hair and seals the cuticle to reduce colour bleeding to keep haircolour vivid for up to 30 washes.

Reviving Red Condition - 250ml - $30.50 - detangles hair and helps to restore the hair fibre and multiply light reflection for purer, more vibrant shades.

Reviving Red Illuminating Caring Oil - 125ml - $31.75 - a daily cuticle sealing treatment that restores hair's lipid layer to increase light reflection.

Reviving Red Red & Copper Reflect Enhancing Treatments - 4 x 10ml - $36.75 - weekly pigment depositing replenishing treatments that enhance the vibrancy of vivid red and copper shades for an intense surge of shine and softness between salon visits.

And while I am loving the Oil and Treatments, my favourite part of the collection is the shampoo and conditioner - they smell great, have a really nice luxurious texture and the gel shampoo is lighter then the cream conditioner - a new quirky thing you get to learn about me now is I hate it when shampoos are as heavy as the conditioner is, not only does it make it impossible for me to figure out which is which in a dark morning shower but it's just wrong and against all the laws of nature in my eyes - shampoos are meant to be light and conditioners are meant to be heavy dammit!

Available exclusively at salons - check out www.pureology.com to find one near you.

Mascara Monday - Marcelle Twist Push-Up Mascara

Marcelle Twist Push-Up Mascara - $13.50 - with an innovative twist cap that allows you to tighten and twist the bristles together to transform the brush from one that adds definition to a volumizing magic wand.
The polymer brush is designed to define and coat lashes by pushing them upwards for long, luscious lashes!
And a black, hypo-allergenic, perfume free, non-clumping formula that won't flake or stray.

Apply with brush in regular position to define lashes then just turn the end to tighten and twist bristles together and apply
On the right you can see what the wand does in it's regular long position and the left is the more compact version.
Lesson learned - if you are going to add a top coat of the thickening on top of the lengthening do it before the bottom coat is entirely dry - by the time I took the pictures I went back to try it my base was so dry that adding a second coat just turned the whole thing into a lumpy mess!

Our readers took the Clear 7 Day Challenge - and here's what they thought!

Last month we asked 10 Beauty Crazed readers to take the Clear 7 Day Challenge and sent them a bottle of the shampoo and conditioner to see if it would do what it promised to which was to leave hair noticeably stronger in just 7 days - out of the 10 that promised to give us their opinion, 7 of them actually did and here's what they have to say:

Jessica - age ? -  hair type ? - When I first got it; I immediately tried its scent for size, lol - don't know why but I like a nice scent when washing my hair and body.
Not too powerful or heavy and Clear met those expectations. I liked the creamy texture of the shampoo and conditioner. After lathering and massaging my scalp, I rinsed - squeezed out as much water as I could and applied the conditioner. Left on while I proceeded with my body. After, I rinsed well, possibly 3 minutes later. It did feel clean. I combed out my hair and let them dry naturally since I wanted to see the product in its full expansion. Well, my hair was a little dry. My scalp felt itchy. So, it could be the weather here, mid-season flare-ups or end of season flare-ups because of dry heat in homes during the winter and spring. I waited a few days, and, repeated the procedure two more times during the week. My hair did not get worse, only my scalp was itchy. Hair shaft had that brittle looking side to it. My hair is thin. Not sure, if I could use it again right now. Will have to wait till summer or late spring to really evaluate Clear.

Lisa - 48 - fine hair - I tried the Clear set several times and my hair became drier and drier after each shampoo - on its own, I did not apply a treatment or whatever. Just the shampoo and conditioner gave me almost the same results as many other shampoo. I couldn't believe that I had to fall in the smallest percentage who will claim that it did nothing for them.

Jamie - 36 - fine, curly coloured hair - I was impressed from the first day trying clear scalp and hair therapy it has a great scent and a creamy texture. At the time I started using clear scalp and hair therapy my scalp was very itchy so it was great to put it to the test. During the week of trying this product my hair was more manageable with less flyaways, also day by day my scalp was less itchy. Despite the rich texture of this product it doesnt weigh my fine hair down, which is a real bonus as usually with a moisturizing shampoo my hair is weighed down and lifeless. Now thanks to Clear scalp and hair therapy i have healthier and more manageable hair and a new favourite shampoo and conditioner.

Tasha - 31 - thick and wavy, dry to normal hair - I noticed a difference in my scalp the first day I used the products. I have very wavy and frizzy hair and this has really helped to tame it. No, it won't make your hair so perfect that you don't need to use any additional hair styling products, but it doesn't claim to do that. My hair feels a whole lot silkier (NOT oily) and the smell? One word... heavenly!

I have used a few different "expensive shampoos/conditioners" in the past. And honestly there is nothing that those products will do that this shampoo/conditioner won't do. If anything these products works just as good, if not better. The bottles are a fairly decent size, easy to open and you don't need to use a ton of product to get the job done! Which means it will last longer! Yay!

The consistency of Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy shampoo is fairly thick and more concentrated than what I am used to. I only needed to use half the amount (approximately half of a tablespoon) I would normally use because it lathers up quite a bit more than your typical shampoo. It really does a thorough cleaning job of the scalp without stripping the hair of moisture as it's a moisturizing shampoo.

The conditioner left my hair feeling silky smooth and weightless, just like that of when you get your hair done at the salon. My hair is more manageable, shiny, full of life and smells delicious even the next day. The light scent lingers. My scalp feels great.

Audrey - age 23 - thick, coarse, wavy/curly, dry and frizzy hair - I don't usually have any issues with my scalp except the occasional oiliness if I don't wash it for more than two days. So for me, the hardest thing to control is the frizz and the dryness. I'm always on the lookout for a great shampoo and conditioner that will put some moisture into my hair so it's soft and manageable. My first impression of the Clear shampoo was that it was thick and creamy but it still had a nice consistency. It was easy to lather and wash my hair thoroughly. It washed clean and left my hair feeling smooth. The conditioner was just as thick and creamy and also left my hair smooth after rinsing. Unfortunately, after I got out of the shower, my hair didn't feel any different or better. I also didn't care for the smell of the products much. I will continue to use the products until they are done but I don't think I'll be inclined to buy it unless it was on sale.

Karin - 48 - long thin hair with brittle ends - I tried Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy-Damage & Color Repair and I found it to be good. I really liked the fragrance, soft and not overpowering. I have thin hair and I often feel a residue left in my hair after washing, but I didn't feel any residue at all when I used Clear. I also suffer from brittle ends. I straighten my hair 3-4 times per week and I found that the longer I used Clear, the less brittle it became. I would have to say I really liked Clear. My only worry of course is that after prolonged use it wont continue to the same job. I have often found that after prolonged use some products dont measure up to how they at first were. But I do like Clear and I will continue to purchase, even my daughter in-law wants to try the 7 day challenge.

Meg - 24 - fine, colour treated hair - I loved the smell I however feel the shampoo did not lather as much as I’d like, I love the after smell and how the product lingers in my hair ; the conditioner was not to thick and made my hair super silky and a little went along way
Day 2: February 26th 2013: Second use; Was super excited to use this again, the smell is the greatest part so far, I noticed my hair was not as greasy (normally overnight my hair is greasy as I have thin oily hair, the main reason I wash daily) typical though, I am not seeing a difference in strength it is only the second day.
Day 3: February 27th 2013: When I used this today I wasn’t so impressed after the conditioner I let my hair air dry and it seemed really coarse. I do have bleach in my hair but it just seemed blah today! Perhaps just a build up of product, -- time for a deep condition.
Day 4: February 28th 2013: Did I mention the smell, I have been tracking the progress in my note pad on my device and everyone loves the smell including me! Today I also let my hair air dry and I used the flat iron I do still tend to see coarse-ness in my hair. I noticed this so suddenly I’m wondering if I just never noticed it as much before, my hair lacks shine – hmmm.
Day 5: March 1st 2013: I really do not like this shampoo and conditioner at all at this point, it’s not for me – my hair is just not working well with it. The coarse feeling and lack of shine is really disappointing – But as promised 7 days!
Day 6 and 7 – March 2nd and 3rd 2013: This product did nothing for my hair. The reason I did not like is the feeling of my hair, it felt clean but it didn’t look healthy. It didn’t repair my hair or even make it look shiny. I also noticed my hair beginning to fall out a lot more. I would absolutely not purchase this product as it was just not the right combination with my hair.

Total rating: 2/10 - the smell was just about the only positive thing I can say; besides it did the job of a basic clean. I did not like anything about how it made my hair feel or look and to top it off it made my hair fall out more with brushing and cleaning than normal. I think I will stick with my Lush BIG shampoo!

Disney Jasmine Collection by Sephora A Whole New World 50ml EDP - $70 - a floral musky fragrance with top notes of carnation, orange blossom and madarin; heart notes of gardenia and cedarwood; and top notes of sandalwood, vanilla, amber and benzoin.

Also available as a Perfumed Body Shimmer - $54 and Perfumed Oil Rollerball - 6.5ml - $23

And while the fragrance is a little too exotic smelling for my taste without having said flying carpet - the bottle is so beautiful that I would buy it just for that!

There's also a whole Jasmine makeup collection including: Magic Carpet Ride Eyeshadow Palette - $36; Storylook Eyeshadow Palette Vol 2 - $66; Three Wishes Eyeliner Set - $50; One Is Never Enough Nail Set - $29; The Palace Jewel Compact Mirror - $29

Available now at Sephora and sephora.ca.
