Considering the headlines that have graced the papers lately this seems like an excellent time to remind people that violence against woman is still a very real problem - even the United Nations Secretary-General has a campaign UNiTE to End Violence Against Women which is encouraging everyone to "Orange YOUR Neighbourhood" between November 25th and December 10th, 2014.
I'm wearing Mary Kay today because I appreciate everything they already do for the cause of bringing an end to domestic violence through advocacy, education and prevention programs through the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation which donates $10,000 to a women's shelter or outreach program in each of the provinces and territories across Canada every year. In addition to this, they also run a global cause-related marketing program - Beauty That Counts - where millions of dollars are donated from the sale of limited-edition products to organizations that change the lives of women and children.
