I was thrilled when I heard that one of my favourite books - Something Borrowed, by one of my favourite authors - Emily Giffin, was being made into a movie! I loves me a romantic comedy as well as John Krasinski (yum) and Ginnifer Goodwin - so I'm really looking forward to this one!
Here's the deal with the movie: Rachel (Ginnifer Goodwin) is a talented attorney at a top New York
law firm, a generous and loyal friend, and, unhappily, still single…as her
engaged best friend Darcy (Kate Hudson) is constantly reminding her. But after celebrating her 30th birthday,
perpetual good girl Rachel unexpectedly ends up in bed with the guy she’s had a
crush on since law school, Dex (Colin Egglesfield)…who just happens to be
Darcy’s fiancé. When Rachel and Darcy’s
lifelong friendship collides with true love, it leads to unexpected
complications and potentially explosive romantic revelations. The romantic
comedy “Something Borrowed” also stars John Krasinski as Ethan, Rachel’s
constant confidante and sometimes conscience, who is busy evading the affection
of Darcy’s hopelessly love-struck friend Claire (Ashley Williams) while
harboring a secret crush of his own; and Steve Howey as Marcus, an
irrepressible womanizer who can’t keep his mind out of the gutter or his hands
off any girl within reach.
You can check out the official Something Borrowed website for trailers, pictures and other fun stuff:
The movie opens May 6th but we want to send you to the advance screening on May 4th!
It's not often that we get a chance to include so many of our Canadian readers when giving away passes for a movie screening, but in this case the nice folks at Warner Bros. Pictures Canada were super accommodating and we have tickets for all the cities where they are holding an advance screening!
So if you are in Toronto, Montreal (english and french screenings), Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa or Halifax (this is what the locations look like right now)
Toronto - SilverCity Yonge and Eglinton
Vancouver -Empire Granville Theatre
Montreal EN -AMC Forum
Montreal FR - Star Cite
Calgary - Eau Claire
Edmonton - City Centre
Winnipeg - SilverCity Polo Park
Ottawa
- Rideau
Halifax - Parklane
and you and a friend would like to see an advance screening of Something Borrowed then leave a comment with your e-mail address, what city you would like passes for and also let us know what your favourite romantic comedy is!
We will be giving away 5 pairs of tickets for all the screenings except for Toronto, where we will be giving away 10 pairs of tickets! You have until April 25th to enter - winners will be drawn randomly and contacted by e-mail. Good Luck!

My favorite romantic comedy is The Holiday starring Jack Black, Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet and Jude Law.
This movie includes two of my favorite actors: Jude Law and Kate Winslet. The story is realistic and the actors portrayed fantastic, loveable characters, including a surprising softer side of Jack Black. It had funny moments, as well as adorable moments that made me remember why I'm so fortunate to have found my perfect match.
I also read the book Something Borrowed by Emily Griffen and adored it, and would love to see the film adaptation

ReplyDeleteVancouver please!
My favourite movie is Lars and the Real girl. To see the lengths an entire town goes, to protect this fragile character is astounding. I could not believe he was sooo raw in this performance. I felt this movie was understated, under-aclaimed and overwhelmingly amazing.
I also cannot wait for this movie!!! To date my favourite romantic comedy is probably Never Been Kissed, I just love me some Michael Vartan! I live closest to Toronto, it's a bit of a drive but I would be willing to take the day off work to see the advanced screening. My cousin goes to Humber and she adores Emily Giffin so I would definitely have to bring her along with me :)
