Dear Revlon,
A number of years ago you discontinued my holy grail of concealers - the Revlon ColorStay Concealer ($11.95) to be exact - which caused a serious problem in my life.
You see as a pale person, it's hard to find a decent concealer. Most of them come in 3 shades: light, medium and dark which actually translates to: pink, too dark for me and way too dark for me - I searched a long time to finally find your concealer and we spent many happy years together. I hope you can appreciate that having it so carelessly ripped away from me was agonizingly painful. I spent many a night planning revenge fantasies against you in my head and many a day haunting Revlon warehouse sales and stalking ebay for them.
Eventually the re-sale well ran dry and I was back to wandering aimlessly, while searching once again for the perfect concealer. I thought this would be how I would end my days, as a little old lady, shuffling through the aisles of Shoppers Drug Mart crying pitifully for a decent concealer to cover my goiter until one day when I was at my local SDM then what to my wondering eyes should appear but a pre-pack display with a beloved old friend! You're advertising it as "new" but you can't fool me - that's MY concealer - the one I've been blowing out birthday candles, throwing pennies in bodies of waters and breaking wishbones for!
Thank you for keeping my Light shade (but pale people who like pink should go with the Fair and those other people with actual skin colour can choose between Light Medium, Medium and Medium Deep) and a big thank you for the wonderful texture which still feels light put perfectly covers up my dark circles and imperfections!
It's back and I'm thrilled - so happy in fact I might not even ask you why it is in all the years that it's been gone that you still haven't learned how to spell "Colour" properly...
Do not discontinue my ColorStay Concealer again or I will cut you.
Love, Lisamarie

I just so happen to be looking for a new concealer! This sounds absolutely wonderful. Have you tried the I.T. Cosmetics Bey Bey Undereye Concealer in light. OMG, it's practically white.
ReplyDeleteOh my Goodness, this is the happiest day of my life!!! I cannot wait until it gets to my area. (Small hick town that's the last to get anything!)
ReplyDeleteI'll have to try the ColorStay one! Now if only Maybelline would bring back their Dream Mousse concealer...I hate finding lovely products that I fall in love with only to have them discontinued!
ReplyDeleteI may have to pick this up with my January no buy ends :)
ReplyDeleteOoh, I'll have to try this.
ReplyDeleteI have been using colorstay foundation since I was 16 years old and I am now 33, this March!! I understand your love for their concealer ;) I have tried all kinds of name brand, expensive foundations but i always return to Revlon color stay :) Great post. Loved it !
ReplyDeleteI Love this post, it is hilarious cause I can relate. Good Job!
ReplyDeleteYou wrote a very convincing post! I think I will need to give this a try
ReplyDeleteLisamarie, I'm so happy for you!
ReplyDeleteYou must have been over the moon when you saw this in stores again. I don't think I've ever heard of a drugstore brand rereleasing something they've discontinued. Bravo, Revlon!
By the way, do you think this concealer would be good for dry under-eye skin?
I need to search your archives for a review.
I have yet to find a concealer that's worth keeping.
It probably wouldn't be my first choice if your undereye is dry - the formula is a bit sticky which makes it great for covering but I suspect that would also make it cling to any dry skin bits and make them obvious. What about the Smashbox High Definition concealer - that formula is quite creamy!
