Dasani PlantBottles make cranky bloggers less ranty - I'm sure that was the goal!
You already know my opinion of plastic bags so in honour of Earth Day this Friday I thought I would regale you with my opinion of plastic water bottles - I know it will shock you that I HATE them! If I had my way, nobody would ever buy another single serving plastic bottle of water! I mean there are so many refillable bottle options out there now I don't even see why plastic bottles are necessary! I suppose maybe if you are a survivalist stocking up it makes sense but geez, can't you face Armageddon armed with 1L bottles instead, that would be a lot more environmentally friendly and you will need to be well-hydrated to fend off the zombie uprising anyhow!
In their quest to make me a little less pissed off - Dasani is changing over to PlantBottle technology - currently only in western Canada, but coming to the rest of us in May. PlantBottles are made with up to 30 percent plant-based materials and are fully recyclable.
Their eventual goal is to make traditional plastic bottles a thing of the past and ensure that every beverage produced by Coca-Cola is available in 100 percent plant-based, fully recyclable packaging.
But don't worry Coca-Cola, I applaud you for this first step and I can't be mad at you anyhow because you brought back Coke in those adorable little glass bottles and have made them readily available to me.
Glass bottles are wonderful because: I can recycle them; people don't throw them in the ocean (except maybe to send messages) so they don't get caught in the blow holes of whales; pop just tastes better out of a glass bottle - that's a scientific fact; if you put one in the freezer for 10 minutes you get coke slush - delicious!; and there are less calories in the little glass bottle than in a can which makes it easier to keep my girlish figure!
Am I alone in my shunning of plastic water bottles or are there others out there happy to see this change?
