Your life could be worse, you could have to work with Jennifer Lopez!

I always knew Jennifer Lopez would have to have a sense of humour about herself to be married to Marc Anthony and these commercials promoting her new clothing line at Kohl's seems to confirm my theory.
More proof that famous people get away with murder (and pen clicking)!

Kelly Osbourne materializes (eventually) at The Bay!

Kelly Osbourne, I think you're swell, I really do. From what I've seen of you on TV and such (maybe minus The Osbourne show) you seem really sweet, friendly and real. So last night I thought I would find out for myself if my perceptions were reality and attend Kelly's in-store appearance at The Bay on Queen Street for the Material Girl clothing line.

The event was scheduled for 5-7 which means with my little neurosis that showing up any time past 4:55 would deem me late. I wasn't late but I wish I could say the same thing about Kelly...

I would have liked to have spent my waiting time checking out the line but the crowd was too big to really get a good look at it - from what I could see on the mannequins, it looks fun!
Kelly finally shows at 6:45 - looking cute as a bug - I wish I could tell you what she had to say but she showed up just as I had to leave to catch my bus. And just so you don't think I was still there because I'm super patient, at that point it was sheer stubbornness - there was no way I was leaving without the satisfaction of getting a picture!

It was nice almost meeting you Kelly - let's work on that punctuality thing, kay?!

Material Girls Madonna and Lourdes Mean Business!

As I've already mentioned a few days ago, Madonna and her daughter Lourdes are working hard on promoting their new clothing line for Tweens. Lourdes has even started her own blog. I got my hands on a few pictures and the line does have an 80's vibe to it. And you know you're getting old if you can remember when a trend first came out...

The Material Girl is Coming to Macy's This Summer!

We've known about Madonna & her daughter Lourdes' clothing line for a while but Macy's released a bit more info this week: the line called "Material Girl" will be available on August 3. The designs target Tweens and each design will cost less than $50. I would have loved to see real pictures (err...I mean, more like extremely photoshopped pictures of Madonna) instead of sketches because it's kinda hard to form an opinion based on these drawings. It probably won't matter, mind you, all her fans will most likely buy the entire collection in every size and in every color known to Man. Yes, even if they are over 30... or guys!

In case you thought I was kidding about the sunscreen...

I was thinking about my post yesterday while watching bad reality television - The Real Housewives of Atlanta to be specific, and realized that I had my case in point right in front of my eyes!  If you aren't familiar with the show please meet Kim Zolciak one of the aforementioned housewives.  Now guess how old she is?  Whatcha think?  40ish?  Maybe a well preserved 50?  Ready...? 29, that's right, I said TWENTY-NINE!  This is the kind of haggard look for such a young age that seems to beg the expression "Rode hard and put away wet".  This is not the way we want to look at 29 now is it?  Keep in mind this is what 29 with lots of money from Big Poppa looks like.  This is what 29 with a professional make-up job and a big ol' wig looks like.  Of course it doesn't help that she also smokes, so if you are a smoking, non-sunscreen wearer, this is what you have to look forward to at 29...not pretty is it?!  Which is the perfect segueway into my favourite moisturizers containing sunscreen...

Biotherm Face Multi-Protection is more then just a sunscreen, even though you will find it in Biotherm's sun care section.  It also works as your moisturizer.  Best part, it comes in SPF 15, 30 and 50.  Oily/combination girls might not love this, I find it a bit heavy, but normal/dry girls should appreciate the texture.  And at $32.50, not a bad price for a face cream.

La Roche Posay - this line is much beloved by dermatologists and sensitive skin sufferers everywhere but not that well know by everyone else.  If you like your skincare to be free of unnecessary fragrance, colour and irritating ingredients then you really need to give this line a try and you might want to start with Hydraphase UV SPF 30.  It's light and fast absorbing.  Darker skin tones might find that it needs some extra rubbing in time as it does have a whitish cast when it first goes on.

My honourable mention goes to Lise Watier Hydra-City.  The only reason it isn't getting my full on approval is I think the SPF of 15 is a little too low, definitely the very minimum you should be wearing. Otherwise it's such a good moisturizer I couldn't leave it off the list entirely.  Now you all have no excuse to eventually/ever look like Kim!

Could You Live Without Kanye's New Clothing Line?

Kanye West, a self-proclaimed fashionista, is launching his clothing line called "Pastelle". Inspired by streetwear and urban culture...it's not terrible, a la Lindsay Lohan, but well, it's not going to revolutionize the world of fashion, by the look of it. I can sense another mediocre, overpriced celebrity clothing line. Sigh. Another line, you could live without.
