Anna Sui Kaleidoscope Fall 2010 and did you know Anna Sui is now at Shoppers?!

I discovered something interesting the other day when I went into a local Shoppers to pick up something from MUFE - turns out they don't carry Make Up For Ever anymore and have replaced it with Anna Sui - which is very exciting!  Bad that it won't be as handy to pick up MUFE but neat to get a line that I'm pretty unfamiliar with in playing distance!  So I thought this was a good time to post about the fall collection - I am just starting my Anna Sui education, but I just know that a line with such cute packaging has got to be good!

Eye Color Duo - $38 - one polarized pearl shade made with volatile oil, keeping the powder from dispersing and one vibrant deep shade providing a magical gradation in which the colour changes intricately and that contains more oil to make it fit closely to the skin.  In 3 shades:  05 lavender/dark red which combine into a feminine purple shade, 06 sky blue/deep purple which combine into a mysterious blue, 07 lemon yellow/deep black which combines into a spicy green.

Eye Color - $25 - a special formula that combines different oil pastes to provide a lasting finish.  Available in 22 amazing colours.

Eye Brightener - $25 - 01 bright beige - contains a high level of white pigment and combines three different pearls providing a perfectly three dimensional finish.  Has a water base for easy application and creates a natural, silky, satiny luster that can be used not only on the eyelids, but also on other areas that need to be brightened.
Spot Concealer - $25 - 01 light tone, 02 medium tone, 03 dark tone - a smooth cream base used to cover anything from tiny blemishes to wider areas.  Soft Focus Powder and two kinds of Titanium Oxidize are combines to create a thick but natural finish.
Mini Rouge - Limited Edition - $21 - In three colours: vivid red, vivid pink and vivid purple.  How cute is this little thing?!  An accessory and gloss all in one!
Nail Color - Limited Edition - $15 - In four colours: glassy pearl clear, glassy pearl purple, glassy pearl pink and glassy pearl brown.
And coming in November - Hand & Nail Cream - $19 - rich moisture provided by shea butter and jojoba oil.

Any recommendations for a Anna Sui newbie?

Jo Malone ushers in Autumn with English Pear & Freesia

Inspired by John Keats's ode "To Autumn" - English Pear & Freesia is a fragrance that makes you think of the early days of fall.  It actually came out last month but since the weather hasn't been feeling at all fall-like here, I didn't want to jinx it and rush summer out by talking about fall!

The fragrance contains notes of King William pear, quince, green rhubarb, white freesia, wild rose, patchouli, white amber and musk and is meant to capture the scent of just-ripe pears gathered in an English orchard. And of course, as with all Jo Malone fragrances, it is meant to be layered and/or combined with other scents.  Some suggestions that Jo Malone offers is to combine it with Orange Blossom for a delicate, fruity-floral scent, Vetyver to add spiciness or Black Vetyver Cafe to give masculine depth.

If you are a citrus nut like me you'll combine it with Grapefruit (as I do everything) to smell like a delicious fruit salad!

English Pear & Freesia is available in a 30ml Cologne - $70 or 100ml Cologne - $118 exclusively at Holt Renfrew.  In November, they will also be launching a Body Creme, Body & Hand Wash and Home Candle for this scent.

OPI - Lucerne-tainly Look Marvellous and Glitzerland - Lippmann Collection - Today Was A Fairytale and Boom Boom Pow swatches -

Still trying out the colours from the OPI fall Swiss collection, this time it's: Lucerne-tainly Look Marvellous and Glitzerland - Love them! What is really nice about them is that 1 coat gives you a polished metallic look that is perfect if you are running out the door and need to do something fast, while 2 coats gives you a rich metallic colour - I can see these getting a lot of use by me for the holidays!
Now I'm not normally a glittery nail polish kind of girl - mostly because I hate the way chunky glitter feels - I like a smooth nail so I was pleased to discover that the two new holiday colours from the Lippmann Collection: Today Was a Fairytale and Boom Boom Pow (with real 24K gold dust inside) add beautiful shimmer without lumps! Fairytale looks blue in the bottle but the glitter is silver and I loved the effect with the OPI silver!  You can find Lippmann polished at Donato Salons in Toronto as well as Murale.

Bourjois Paris goes Barock for fall!

The end of a super busy Wednesday last week found me at the Pink House at 32 Scollard Street in Yorkville - home to Jeanne Lottie's fabulous line of handbags as well as the setting for the Bourjois Paris fall makeup launch and event - oh la la!  The place was packed full of ladies in a handbag shopping frenzy but things were a little bit calmer on the rooftop deck which is where the Bourjois display was set up.

People were so caught up with their shopping that they were even leaving their purse dogs in the oddest places!

The lovely Daphne - who is even prettier when she's not having her picture taken by a terrible photographer (me) - was on hand and gave me a fabulous makeover using the new fall colours!

Bourjois Paris Barock - releasing October 1st at select Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix and Murale stores.  Here's what you'll find in the collection:
Little Round Pot Eyeshadow in Brun Irréel #05 and Marron Glacé #54 - $17
Liner Pinceau Gold in Or Néo-classique - $20 - limited edition available only until December - I don't usually love liquid liner but I loved the way it looked when Daphne used it on me!  And gold is so festive, this will be great for the holidays!
Volume Clubbing in Ultra Black #75 - $20
Sweet Kiss in Brun Orné #52 - $18
Little Rouond Pot Blush in Brun Cuivré #03 - $19 - this was my favourite item from the collection - it gave me such a natural pretty flush that I could use as a blush or even to add a sunkissed look all over!
So Laque! nail Polish in Noir de Chine #30 - $10 - whoever invented black polish is a freaking genius!

Avon Matte Finish Nail Enamel - swatches

Avon Matte Nail Enamel - 12ml - $5.99 - available in 4 shades:  Black as Night, Grey Cement, Violetta and Red Velvet.  Matte polishes have been big for a while now but I have never actually used one before.  I read up on it first so I knew that I shouldn't use a base coat, definitely couldn't use a top coat and that I should avoid hand lotions or anything else that might be hard on the colour (I also took this to mean I shouldn't do any housework - I'm in!)
I quickly learnt that the application process is a lot less forgiving with matte polishes because you can't even it out later with a top coat - but this grey was my favourite of the colours, I think it has a cool edgy look!
The purple isn't showing as matte as it really was because there is a little bit of sparkle to the colour that is being reflected off the flash.

I'm still on the fence about matte polishes, I am going to have to use them some more to get my application technique down!  Any tricks or hints would be much appreciated!

It's a Masquerade for Smashbox Fall 2010!

A million apologizes for taking so long to post this, I finally had a chance to get a personal up-close look at Smashbox's fall collection and all I can say is WOW!  I love (which means I will buy) every single piece!  Inspired by illusion, mystery and desire it promises to transform you to anyone you choose!

Masquerade Eye Shadow Palette - $40 - the colours are matte soft peach, shimmering black plum, matte taupe, metallic khaki, shimmering gold, bronze, metallic cabernet, shimmering navy and matte bone - I have been seeing sneak peek pictures of this palette but a picture really doesn't it do it justice, it is one of the most versatile collection of colours that I have seen together in ages - if you want one, grab one, I suspect they will go fast!
Baked Fusion Soft Lights Cheek Palette - Illusion - $37 - - colours are champagne, soft gold and rosegold - such a beautiful highlighter, or if you are pale you can do a subtle blush with it.  It's not overly glittery too which is a big plus in my book!
Creamy Cheek Colour and Brush - Intrigue - $33 - a warm pink stick blush with a brush on the other end for blending.  The cream blush is made with Vitamin E to add moisture and I am so pleased to see a cream blush in the collection as I learned to love them this summer!
Liquid Liner & Lash Overlay - $22 -In Teal or Bronze, it's a liquid liner and a lash colour to go over your mascara - I especially heart the Teal!
O-Gloss Noir - $25 - too awesomely cool for words - it goes on black so you can feel all vampy and then turns into a custom bold berry hue tailored to your specific skin tone.  Contains Ginkgo Biloba Leaf and Goji Berry extracts, Vitamin C and moisturizing Pomegranate Seed and Avocado Oils.  Perfect for this season's berry trend without having to go to all the effort of finding the berry colour that's perfect for you - it will find it for you!

GOSH polish swatches - Silky Mint & Yellow Doll

I introduced you to the GOSH Fall 2010 collection last week and I don't know about you, but I really love the nail polishes in the collection!  And for $6 you really can't go wrong!  The one thing I found with the GOSH polish, is that it is a little thicker then some that I have used so I need to be more mindful about putting on thin coats and letting them dry a bit more in between because I have a little bubbling
Silky Mint is my favourite and such a happy colour!
Yellow Doll is fun but might look better on someone with darker skin...
