This week I'm obsessed with... Jem and the Holograms action figures!

You can tell you're getting old when companies start preying on your generation's nostalgia by coming out with high-priced merchandise for all your past favourite movies, music and of course, tv shows.

All of course because this is the point in our lives that we have the money to allow us to wallow in our childhood memories and buy expensive homages to it!

There was a lack of tv in my house growing up so I didn't catch the show in the mid 80's when it first ran but I have fond memories of coming home at lunch from university to eat my Kraft Dinner with no milk or butter (who can afford such luxuries in university?!) - but I didn't care because I had Jem, all those crazy Holograms girls - and of course the Misfits!

Of course the truly outrageous thing about her this time might be the price...

The dolls will set you back $125 each and will be available November 17th at Holt Renfrew. They must be expecting lots of interest because there is a limit of 1 character per customer.

Jem, Synergy and Jerrica - I think they could have done better with Jerrica's outfit, she looks like a candy striper!
Rio - Jerrica's boyfriend who not only looks like a douche but looking back at it, kinda is one considering he didn't realize that Jerrica (who he dated) and Jem (who he lusted after) were the same person!

Lady Gaga: Hair Today...Gone Tomorrow!

Lady Gaga was performing on British TV yesterday night, and to everyone's surprise she yanked her green wig to reveal a bald head while singing "Hair". This is obviously a bald cap, but it shows Gaga isn't afraid of anything...if there was ever a doubt!

If baldness is not your thing, you can always look for more hair product reviews!

Rihanna Gets Her Revenge in Her New "Man Down" Video...and It's Disturbing!

Rihanna's videos are often on the provocative side, but this latest video is pretty disturbing to me - and you guys should know by now, I'm not exactly the very sensitive type. I've even been told my heart was made of tar...but even for someone like me, the rape and murder themes in this "Man Down" video don't feel right! It's not thought provoking, it's just gratuitous violence to me. Killing someone who hurt you doesn't resolve anything, does it?

Anyway, have a look and let us know what you think!

Hop in Rihanna's California King Bed!

I nearly fell asleep watching this video, but the occasional flash of a hot guy's abs and Rihanna's gorgeous face helped me in making it through! Rihanna's softer makeup really suits her and makes her green eyes pop. I wish she would use this look more often!

From Cannes to London: a Week of Intoxicating Fashion with Lady Gaga!

This week Lady Gaga looked like a matador on acid in Cannes and launched yet another trend a couple of days later while traveling through London: My Little Pony accessories!

It's so, so cruel. Who could hurt such a magnificent creature in the name of "fashion"? I wonder how many Little Ponies had to die for this horrible necklace (and let's not tell Lisamarie because that would just make her weep).

Broken toys around your neck? Yeah, I believe the day Gaga will run out of ideas is approaching...

Does Beyonce Run the World?

Beyonce debuts her new video "Run the World": it's visually interesting, the styling is amazing as usual and again...I don't care for this song. I find the hook even slightly annoying but I'm sure it will catch on like fire in Lisamarie's kitchen!

Ellie Goulding: an Infectious Song Wrapped in a Bad Video!

Yesterday, I posted Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" video: I thought the video was super cute but the song did nothing for me. Today, it's the other way around. I watched Ellie Goulding on SNL last night and I thought she was even better live than on this album version. The girl doesn't have a big voice but she certainly can sing! I love the little raspiness in her voice and I love her look...that hairstyle totally rocks.

Obviously this video didn't cost anywhere near Nicki's but guess what? I bought Ellie's single!

Nicki Minaj's New Video: One Bad Song Wrapped in a Delicious Video!

Honestly, I don't care for Nicki Minaj's new song, it's not even bad enough to be funny. But, this "Super Bass" video features the hottest abs around, so I wanted to share the eye candies with all of you, girls guys!
Even better, Nicki wears a few eye catching shoes, including these amazing Versace heels from the Spring 2011 collection. These shoes are so crazy: futuristic, stripperlicious and...expensive. I want them SO bad! In fact, I might fantasize about them for a while.

Forget this guy's abs...I made that face too, when I saw these Versace beauties!

Woodkid's Iron Music Video - One Word: Magnificent!

Woodkid - Iron from WOODKID on Vimeo.

I had never heard of Woodkid before and I'm so glad my brother sent me this link, it's simple yet really inspired and beautiful. You'll notice the model Agyness Deyn featuring in this music video and while she looks great...she really cannot act!  Check out her expression of "shock". Thankfully, she's not talking!

New Coco Mademoiselle Short Film: Spend 3 minutes with Keira Knightley, Right Here. Right Now!

This new Coco Mademoiselle commercial has just been released by Chanel: it features Keira Knightley riding through Paris and pretty much living the life alongside handsome guys and Chanel gowns. Sigh.
Keira rocks as usual, looking like she's in charge. Joss Stone provides the soundtrack with a cover of James Brown's "it's a Man's World".

YSL Summer Campaign: it's a Music Video!

The new Yves Saint-Laurent  video campaign Discover the Spring/Summer features the beautiful Arizona Muse with the awesome Janelle Monae's song "Mushroom & Roses" Yeah, don't pay attention to that track title, I promise the song is really cool...this commercial is simple, but I love it!

Rihanna: from S&M Dominatrix to Flower Girl!

From S&M to flower girl, Rihanna has softened her image for her first fragrance ad campaign. I haven't tested Reb'l Fleur yet, but I find that name pretty lame. The ad pictures are beautifully shot and you can view them all on folle de beauté.

Rihanna's new video premiered a few days ago and it's a mess: a confusing mix of PVC outfits, lots of skin, and the blogger Perez Hilton on a leash. Yikes. But she's still beautiful and she's still my girl, though!

Willow Smith Whips Her Hair

What? Willow Smith has long hair now? The miniature diva was sporting a very edgy asymmetrical bob only a few minutes ago (I loved it so much I actually considered getting the same haircut) but she puts her new long braids to good use in this music video..."Whip My Hair" is actually pretty cool and Willow has lots of attitude - perhaps, too much ? -

New York Music Festival, Where Fashion Nightmares Are Made!

Forget the lyrics of Alicia Keys' Empire State of Mind - these "outfits" worn during the New York's Premiere Electronic Music Festival, are so special, they look like something Lisamarie would wear on a profile picture! Furry boots, neon skirts, and even... body paint (which could be all over your body for a mere $90)! New York Magazine has even more pictures of this sort!

Lippmann Collection - Supermodel and Between the Sheets swatches

These are a couple of polishes that have been faves of mine from the Lippman Collection for my toes this summer but as my husband so lovingly put it, "no one wants to see your webbed feet" - so I'll let you check them out on my fingers instead!

Supermodel - created with supermodel Dree Hemingway - is a really striking red orange which they are calling a sheer but with 2 coats, I don't really it find it that sheer at all!

Between the Sheets - a super pretty fuchsia purple creme.

And if you are looking for an amazing quick dry top coat - check out their Addicted to Speed - it dries so quick and yet is still really shiny - I usually find that quick drying top coats don't have as much shine but this one is the exception!

And here's something I never knew, not only does Deborah Lippman have a line of nail products, she also sings!  Her previous recording "Nightingale" was jazz standards and original recordings and in her newest "Vinyl", she gives her own spin to some favourite rock classics.

I love her voice, it's very soulful and you can tell she loves to sing, so good for her!  If you are curious, you can find some videos on Youtube - just search Deborah Lippman (there is a heart wrenching version of Since I Fell For You) or you can purchase her cd's - as well as her polishes on her website - www.lippmanncollection.com

Fragrance Commercials: Traveling from Acqua di Gioia's rainforest to the Bleu de Chanel's Urban Jungle

Lisamarie already reviewed the Acqua di Gioia fragrance  from Armani a couple of days ago but what I could not get over was the beauty of this commercial!

Behind the scenes - the model STILL looks gorgeous, ugh.

If If you're in love with this soundtrack, like me, you can listen to The Cinematic Orchestra's "Arrival of The Birds" here. The Cinematic orchestra has some amazing tracks, like the melancholic "To build a Home". If I had a heart, it would melt!  All their tracks are available on iTunes.

In the meantime, all we've got for Bleu de Chanel is a trailer! The new Chanel men's fragrance goes for sale today but the short film directed by Martin Scorcese, featuring Gaspard Ulliel, will only be available in September - What a tease! -

Christina Aguilera Can Keep Her Clothes on. Yes She Can!

Talk about extremes! In her previous video, Christina Aguilera was dressed like a dominatrix in heat but this new video is very very tame (perhaps too much?): she's wearing SLEEVES! Shocking!
This video is all about feelings and stuff... and some random dude's biceps. I approve!

New Christina Aguilera Video: The Diva Goes Gaga

Christina Aguilera's new music video "I'm not myself tonight" has a sweet smell of desperation. It looks like someone has been paying attention to Lady Gaga but what's worse: this video looks strangely like some old Madonna's videos like "Human Nature" and "Express Yourself" and Naomi Campbell has already set a wardrobe on fire in George Michael's "Freedom" (I hope she's trying to pay homage...). So yeah, just take a mediocre song and recycle some old ideas, that should work...or not. While the aesthetic of this video is great, I can't help noticing she went back to her "Dirrty" era after declaring she was over it. I don't mind sexy videos but frankly we're one step away from a -bad- porno movie and no amount of surgically enhanced boobies will make me buy crappy music. Sorry Christina. I still love you though.

Oh...and pay attention to the shameless plug for her fragrances around 2:15.

Lady Gaga: 0 Pant, 1 New Video, 100 pounds of makeup.

Let's start with the obvious: this video is ridiculous. Completely, utterly, absolutely ridiculous. But it's also quite fun. Jonas Akerlund is back at the helm and directs this new music video "Telephone" starring Lady Gaga and Beyoncé. It does start like a really bad porno, but quickly the outlandish outfits and the quirky dance routines become quite amusing. Most of all,  we get a really happy ending!

Pre-Grammy's Fashion Disasters

If the pre-Grammy's party is any indication, tonight's show should be a display of horrid dresses, and should keep us pretty entertained!

Rihanna
Katy Perry dresses worse than a grandma on acid

I kept the best for last: Kelis at the Data Awards (yeah, I don't know what it is either!) in a latex suit and looking just...well different, but not in a good way.

Yes, it's even more amazing than you thought.
