Test Driving Avon Anew Clinical Pro Line Eraser

Every once in a while one of the skincare companies will contact us wanting us to test out some brand new, top secret, cutting edge product they have coming out -

Despite what our writing might lead you to believe, we Beauty Crazed girls aren't stupid, how do we know that the stuff is any good and isn't going to turn our skin green or make it fall off?! That's where our loyal and gullible readers come in - we float the whole thing as some sort of reward and invite them to test out this wonderful new product from a prestigious company - genius no?!

Okay, mental note - remember to delete that top bit before posting this - we don't want the rubes catching on...

A couple of months ago Avon asked for our help with trying out an innovative new product. At the time we didn't know it but now can say is:

Avon Anew Clinical Pro Line Eraser Treatment - 30ml - $44.99 - with an exclusive A-F 33 molecule that was inspired by Nobel prize-winning research and developed through an alliance with NeoStrata. It's designed to not only spark collagen production but also to actually intercept and deactivate collagen blockers.

Of course we don't like to hog wonderful opportunities like this to ourselves so we put out a call to find a reader who would enjoy the chance to try it out for us!

Enter Sarah - a 44 year old with pale, sensitive skin that has a tendency towards dryness, some wrinkles, rosacea and breakouts...

Avon Anew - top secret test

With some degree of trepidation, I put the lotion on my face. Was Lisamarie legit, or was this some sort of test to see if people (me) obey the internet without question.
{damn, she's on to us!} Luckily, she was legit...my skin did not turn blue or purple or polka dotted.

Details around the product were minimal, but I believe it to be a serum. I used it for a month until every last drop was squeezed out of the tub. In a word - LOVE! My skin responded very well to the product. We had very hot days - I didn’t break out in bumps. I wasn’t overly moisturized or greasy, but my skin was plump and purring. I have rosacea, and while it didn’t reduce redness, it didn’t aggravate it either. I think in conjunction with a rosacea-specific product, it would be true love forever. I tried smelling it, and the smell was mild to non-existent. I don’t want to say “no smell” because there may be others more sensitive than me, but pretty darn close. Best yet...my stress wrinkle between my eyebrows was minimized. It soaked up the product and pumped up, making me look younger and beautiful, not like a raisin.

Along the lines of youth, I put some on my 11-year old daughter. She had no adverse reactions, aside from angst, clothing/makeup obsession and a bit of back-talking. But I’m not convinced it was the product that caused those reactions.
Now that it's been released, I will be picking up some for sure!

Don't miss out on the other great days:

Fragrant Friday - Lady Gaga Fame

Is Lady Gaga all kinds of crazy-pants? You betcha! Crazy like a fox? Could be - it's hard to tell these days with celebrities what is actual crazy and what is just marketing crazy. But like every other self-respecting fame-whore The Ga has got herself a fragrance, which is also kind of nuts but smells surprisingly good!

Lady Gaga Fame - 30ml EDP - $39, 50ml EDP - $59, 100ml EDP - $89 - with a very different formulation then what we are used to seeing with fragrances. Rather then having top, heart and base notes, it uses a "push-pull technology" that allows the ingredients to randomly rise and fall when worn on the skin.

The scent is built around three main accords: dark, sensual and light. The dark accord was inspired by Belladonna, the deadly nightshade possessed by haunted beauties since the 18th century. From this darkness, the fragrance evolves to a sensual accord of opulence, a fusion of dripping honey, saffron and apricot nectar. And lastly, the light accord whispers magnificence. The rich floral layer of crushed Tiger Orchid & Jasmine Sambac embodies timeless beauty. The accords work together to create a fragrance of floral and fruity elements, with the star ingredient inspired by Belladonna leveling out the whole fragrance and giving it its signature as a scent.

What I think is really interesting is the juice - the first ever black EDP! Meant to represent the dark side of fame - it's black in the bottle but sprays on clear - and surprisingly, I really like the scent - it smells fruity and warm on me!

Available at Shoppers Drug Mart, Pharmaprix, Sephora, The Bay and Sears.

And you just won't understand the ad unless you watch the whole film...

Pore you - with La Roche-Posay, Clinique and Shinto Clinical!

Shiny skin and visible pores are problems that almost everyone, except those with dry skin types, deal with to some degree or another. It used to be that the only option you had was to pile on layer after layer of powder throughout the day in hopes of hiding the problem but these days not only are there products to deal with the immediate issue of appearance, but also help to solve the problem over time.

Here are a few that a worth taking a look at:

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Mat - 40ml - $30 - contains micro-exfoliating LHA and Sebulyse, an innovative ingredient capable of targeting excess sebum to combine the efficacy of a mattifying moisturizer and a pore-refiner into a lightweight daily moisturizer for oily skin. Instantly neutralizes shine and tightens the look for pores and has absorbing powders to provide a long-lasting mattifying effect. Paraben free and suitable for even the most sensitive of skin.
Clinique Pore Refining Solutions - 50ml - $43 - helps control oil production and surface shine without leaving the skin feeling dry or uncomfortable while also providing skin the necessary oil-free moisture it needs throughout the day to help strengthen skin. The lightweight and fast absorbing formula also contains innovative optical technology to instantly diminish the appearance of pores while providing just the right amount of moisture the skin needs. Allergy tested, fragrance & oil free and non-acnegenic.
Shinto Clinical by Kimora Lee Simmons Pore It Out - 30ml - $45 - creates a smooth, silky matte finish that beautifies your skin's texture and overall appearance as well as containing powerful essential ingredients to help eliminate oil without stripping the skin of its natural moisture. Free of parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances and genetically modified organisms.

What's in my... with Beauty Crazed - wait that's me!

During the Beauty Spotlight Team What's in my....? series you've gotten to snoop around all kinds of exciting places with the team members - I had to find something to show you that I wouldn't have to clean first (which meant the shower was out) - so here is something that very few people ever get to see, my dressing table! Not to say I didn't have to clean it because there were about 50 different hair products sitting on it but I just swept them all off and let's pretend it always looks this pristine!

Of course showing you everything in it would take a lifetime - so let's zero in on the second drawer on the bottom left hand side which is where I keep all of limited edition palettes and pretties. These are ones never to be touched by human hand, only to be looked at and admired.

My husband is at a total loss as to the point of having a drawer full of items whose purpose it to not be used - but he's a man so what does he know! I know you all understand so come on in and stay awhile!
My latest collecting has been these perfectly gorgeous palettes that Lancôme keeps putting out!
Lancôme La Rose Deco Rose Complexion - Blooming Glow in 01 Rosy Glow
Lancôme La Roseraie Illuminating Smooth Powder
Lancôme Blush Highlighter Illuminating Powder Face and Decollete in 001
Maison Lancôme Gentle and Long Lasting Powder Blusher
Lancôme Butterlies Fever Healthy Glow Mineral Blusher in 01 Glowy Ballerine
Dior Night Diamond Allover Diamond Dust in 001
Estée Lauder Re-Nutriv Intense Comfort Pressed Powder in 01 Transparent
Dior Addicted to Dior Jeweled Lip Gloss Duo in 002 Addicted to Pink
I don't know why Dior doesn't do it anymore, but they used to put out charms that were the prettiest way to hold a lipgloss!
Dior Cristal Borale - from Holiday 2009
Dior Play - from Summer 2007
Diorlight Ball Pendant - from Holiday 2007
Dior Pretty Charms - from Spring 2008
These Dior palettes deserve a closer look....
Dior Tailleur Bar Eyeshadow Palette
Love Dior Eyeshadow Palette
Dior Flower Blossom Floral Illuminating Powders for Face
And what would life be without Chanel? The first brand I started collecting and one that I will continue to as long as they keep making lust-worthy palettes...
Chanel Lumiere d'Artifices Beiges Illuminating Powder with Shimmer
Chanel Lumiere d'Artifices Iridescent Powders for Eyes and Cheeks
Jeans de Chanel - I made my husband drive 2 hours across town in rush hour to score the last one at the Chanel boutique!
4 Camelias de Chanel Lips in Roses
4 Fleurs de Chanel Eyes in Feeries
Chanel Ombres Tissees Iridescent Effects Eyes in Beiges
Lumiere Sculptee de Chanel Highlighting Powder
Les Perles de Chanel Pearl Face Effects in 89 Surprises
Les Perles de Chanel Pearl Face Effects

You suspect there is more don't you? Sigh - you're right but I'm embarrassed to admit just how much more there is! For starters, I used to be very into the MAC holiday palettes but they're a whole other post... there is also some random brands that I don't necessarily collect but sometimes have palettes so pretty that I can't resist but I figure you've seen enough of my sick obsession for one day...

You just take a couple of drops, rub them between the heels of your hands and breathe in deeply - it is amazing how fast it calms you down. I highly recommending doing this before getting on the subway during rush hour or seeing your in-laws at Christmas!
