Fragrant Friday - Chloé Nomade

Chloé Nomade - 75ml EDP - $154, 50ml EDP - $122, 30ml EDP - $86, 10ml EDP Travel Spray - $35 - a warm floral chypre scent that is a mix of softness and strength with the intense, mineral character of oak moss which is shrouded with the sweetness of the Mirabelle plum and from this freshness emanates a sensation of flowery luminescence carried by freesia.

The scent is hard to describe - on me it smells floral but with kind of an edge to it, like a bad-ass floral and then dries down to something very warm and comforting - I like it, it's unique! I'm also a fan of the bottle - the graceful modern lines and a touch of femininity with the pink ribbon make it very striking.

Fragrant Friday - Chloé Absolu de Parfum

Chloé celebrates the tenth anniversary of it's signature fragrance with a captivating variation of the original:

Chloé Absolu de Parfum - 50ml EDP - $135, 75ml EDP - $170 -
an irresistible essence that intensifies the original Chloé signature fragrance, creating a more refined variation. Using the same rich, woody, textured floral notes, the intensity and depth of the Damascena rose is increased, combined with an absolute of Centifolia rose from Grasse, while vanilla absolute unfurls its round, velvety facets, a touch of patchouli adds character. 

I far prefer this version over the original which I find a little too floral for my taste - the addition of vanilla and patchouli warms up the fragrance and adds a touch of sweetness and earthiness.

Fragrant Friday - Chloé Love Story

The newest fragrance from Chloé is inspired by Parisian romance and the love padlocks on the bridge of the Pont des Arts:

Fragrant Friday - Roses de Chloé

Mom approved fragrances from Chloé, Elizabeth Arden, Nina Ricci, Guerlain and Calvin Klein!

I know some people find it really difficult to pick out a scent for their mother but I'm lucky, my mom and I have polar opposite tastes when it comes to scents! So when I smell something beautifully floral it tends to be a winner gift for her - and at least she never has to worry about my stealing her fragrance (or her stealing mine)!
So for something classically beautiful and floral these would be my Mother's Day choices this year:

Chloé Rose Edition EDP 50ml - $90 - a bouquet of roses with a velvety heart interlacing floral notes of magnolia and lily of the valley, enhanced with honeyed accents of amber and cedar wood.The scent may not be my thing but I do love the packaging with bright pink ribbon!

Elizabeth Arden Petty Hot - 50ml EDP - $63 - with top notes of red currant, fresh mandarin, blood orange, red apple and freesia; heart notes of Queen of the Night, peony, pimento blossom as well as Petelia and Georgywood molecules; and a base of amber, white patchouli, tonka bean, sandalwood and musky Cosmone molecule.

Nina Ricci L'Air EDP 50ml - $80 - 100ml - $110 - this successor to the original is a floral fragrance with light and airy notes composed of intertwining notes of honeysuckle, jasmine, magnolia, violet extract and powdery notes.

Fragrance gifts from Balenciaga and Chloé that are good enough for even the pickiest mother in law!

Over the years I have bought a lot of Christmas gifts for my mother in law - most of which I have never seen again.  The only presents that seem to have escaped Goodwill are fragrance gifts and once I made that realization, it was the only thing I got her again!  Of course even with your best friend, fragrance can be a tricky thing, everyone has such different tastes so I stick to the classy, the classic and the pricey, at least this way if she tries to take it back she won't find out it came from the $19.99 section!
