For A Good Time, Call... advanced screening tickets!

Alliance Films has a new flick coming out September 7th - For A Good Time, Call... and I don't know whether to label this a "chick flick" or not - once you throw phone sex into the mix I'm at a bit of a loss... Here's the official scoop:

The reserved Lauren and the irrepressible Katie are polar opposites… and past enemies. But when both come up short on the funds needed to afford their dream New York City apartment a mutual friend re-introduces them and they reluctantly agree to room together. These apartment-mates have nothing in common – until Lauren discovers that Katie is working as a phone-sex operator, and recognizes a good business opportunity. But as their business partnership takes off, their new found friendship finds unexpected challenges that may leave them both, as they say, hanging on the telephone.

Of course when movies about phone sex are afoot, Beauty Crazed is every theater's first stop for advance screening passes because they know what our readers like!

If you're available the evening of Wednesday, August 29th and live in Toronto, Ottawa, Winnipeg or Halifax and want to take a friend For A Good Time, Call (no e-mail) Beauty Crazed at info@beautycrazed.ca - please put" For A Good Time tickets" along with your city in the subject line - please also leave a post letting us know that you've sent your e-mail request so we can be looking for it! Something Borrowed's perfect Dex - Colin Egglesfield!

It's been a busy and exciting month here at Beauty Crazed between running the contest for the Something Borrowed preview screening tickets and of course waiting for the chance to see one of my favourite books brought to life! Me and all of our lucky winners from across Canada saw the movie last night and it was awesome! Many of our contest winners have been kind enough to drop us a line and let us know what they thought and they agree, the movie rocked!

I have to admit I was a touch worried, it doesn't take much to turn a great book into a bad movie: bad actor choices, crap direction or totally changing the book's original plot, can leave fans of the book disappointed and/or angry but that wasn't an issue here - they kept pretty true to the book with just a bit of artistic license to keep the plot moving. I might even go so far as to say that I liked the movie a bit better because I don't recall the book awakening any serious emotion in me but the movie made me want to tell Rachel to stop being a mouse, Darcy to stop being a narcissistic egomaniac, Dex to stop being a wishy-washy douche and Ethan - well Ethan I just wanted to put in my pocket and take home with me, he is so awesome!

The Toronto movie goers were really lucky to have Colin Egglesfield (Dex) show up for the preview and answer some viewer questions at the end, not to mention give an admirable performance of Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire after someone asked if anyone had ever told him he looks like Tom Cruise. Hot with a sense of humour, I was sold!

But it gets better! I was also asked if I would like to interview Colin - um, hellz ya I would! So I made my way to Yorkville today to have a little chat with my new love interest. Of course he couldn't trust himself to be alone in a room with me so we had a few film bloggers chaperon us - and I just want to point out that when he came into the room there were 2 empty chairs and he chose to sit in the one next to me, just sayin'.

Now it's hard to think of intelligent things to say when a major hunk is sitting that close to you but I am always thinking of my dear readers and I knew you guys would want to know stuff and not just what Colin smells like (really good)!

He took us though the casting process for his role in Something Borrowed, where he was never quite sure up until the very end that he had the role, what it was like to work with Ginnifer and Kate - who have very different styles for getting ready for a part and how he prepared for the role.  What I really liked hearing was his motivation for wanting the part of Dex - he thought it was a lot more interesting to play a part of a character that was flawed and screwed up and where he could also relate to some of the challenges that Dex faced; always expected to do the right thing and not make waves even if doing so wasn't necessarily the thing that would make him happy.

My big earth shaking question was if you really had the choice between a Rachel and a Darcy, who would be more your type?  Colin answered that while he likes aspects of both girls - Darcy with her outgoing, life of the party attitude would break him out of his shell but would also be difficult to connect with on an intimate level because she is so all over the place, so he would be more likely to go for Rachel as relationship material.

He was then whisked away by his PR people but not before taking a picture with me, as you can see from the pic, he is totally into me!
My tip, if you are going to meet celebrities, do it before they become really famous and are all jaded and cynical - Colin was gracious, enthusiastic and very sweet to everyone - if he thought the whole thing was a chore, he did an excellent job of hiding it and making us feel like he was totally stoked to be talking to us!

So go see Something Borrowed - it opens tomorrow, and make sure you stay for the credits - there's a teaser in there for the sequel, Something Blue, which has yet to be made but will be as long as the first one does well! So as Colin said, go see it 5 times!

Many thanks to Warner Brothers for giving so many of our readers the chance to check out Something Borrowed in advance and to Colin for making time for me - call me and if my husband answers, pretend to be the repair guy, k?

Want to see Something Borrowed first? Then you'll want to enter to win tickets in our Canada wide Contest!

I was thrilled when I heard that one of my favourite books - Something Borrowed, by one of my favourite authors - Emily Giffin, was being made into a movie! I loves me a romantic comedy as well as John Krasinski (yum) and Ginnifer Goodwin - so I'm really looking forward to this one!

Here's the deal with the movie: Rachel (Ginnifer Goodwin) is a talented attorney at a top New York law firm, a generous and loyal friend, and, unhappily, still single…as her engaged best friend Darcy (Kate Hudson) is constantly reminding her.  But after celebrating her 30th birthday, perpetual good girl Rachel unexpectedly ends up in bed with the guy she’s had a crush on since law school, Dex (Colin Egglesfield)…who just happens to be Darcy’s fiancé.  When Rachel and Darcy’s lifelong friendship collides with true love, it leads to unexpected complications and potentially explosive romantic revelations. The romantic comedy “Something Borrowed” also stars John Krasinski as Ethan, Rachel’s constant confidante and sometimes conscience, who is busy evading the affection of Darcy’s hopelessly love-struck friend Claire (Ashley Williams) while harboring a secret crush of his own; and Steve Howey as Marcus, an irrepressible womanizer who can’t keep his mind out of the gutter or his hands off any girl within reach.

Love & Other Drugs - what we thought!

On Monday night myself and a bunch of Beauty Crazed readers were lucky enough to attend an advance screening of Love & Other Drugs which releases today.  I wish I had been given more passes to hand out, I know lots of you wanted to attend and I had no more tickets!  For those of you who didn't go but were thinking of seeing it, I thought you might be interested in what we thought of it.  Two people were kind enough to answer my request for their opinion so here you go:

Tara: I was looking forward to this movie as it has both Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway. The movie was okay but I was a bit underwhelmed. I think I was expecting more considering the cast. I thought the movie would be more about a Viagra salesperson, but really, it was more the story of a man who falls in love with a women living with Parkinson's. There's a lot of nudity in the film, which did surprise me. Overall, I think this movie is better suited for a rental at home, considering all the nudity as well, hehe, but that's just my opinion.

Antonia: I enjoyed the film! It was definitely different than what was depicted in the trailers. Not a typical romantic comedy but I loved the chemistry between Anne Hathaway and Jake Gylenhaall. A great date movie or one to see with your girlfriends!

I took my husband and we really enjoyed it - I have to say though, romantic comedies sure have changed!  There is a LOT of nudity - if you have ever wondered what Anne Hathaway looked like without clothes on, this is your chance! The up side to that is that my husband didn't complain once that I was making him see a "girl" movie!  He was disappointed though that he wouldn't have the opportunity to use any of the great moves that Jake Gyllenhall's character had for picking up women!

And just for something different, here is Anne Hathaway with clothes on at the Love & Other Drugs New York premiere - if you are wondering what she has on her eyes to make them look so amazing, it's NARS Thebes Duo Cream Eyeshadow - both shades mixed together.

Anyone else seen this yet?  What did you think?
