Since it's called a serum I was expecting it to be quite thin and runny but it's got a lot more heft to it which makes it easy to apply and for it to stay where you apply it. I also really enjoy the botanical scent it has which reminds you of all the good things it contains!

Now I tell you, colours like this scare the crap out of me - I'm not a makeup artist or even a particularly graceful person and colouring within the (lip) lines is not my strong suit - they tend to end up all over my face- just remember I did this for you without skill or Photoshop so they look nothing like the pic above!

Muse - looks a little cakey on so I think I shouldn't have used as much product - love the colour though!

Icon - I absolutely adore the colour and I applied this one several times trying to make it look perfect but it was totally beyond me - so please don't mock me!

I love both of the colours and they had great staying power but as someone who is used to wearing gloss or regular lipstick that has some heft, I had a hard time with how light this product felt - it feels like you're wearing nothing at all so as a result I kept licking my lips trying to moisturize them which just make my lips feel drier! Next time I will add a layer of balm to the top, which may shorten the lifespan of the colour but will feel more comfortable for me!

Primed for perfection with Hourglass, Victoria's Secret and Cargo!

I am not the most dedicated of primer wearers, especially during the summer - I just find that adding an extra layer of product to combination skin just ends up making my skin feel heavy and greasy especially in hot weather! Now that fall has arrived, I'm breaking out my primers again trying to find ones that feel weightless, keep my makeup in place and don't clog my pores - here are 3 that I'm loving and are worth trying if you have the same issues:


Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer - 10ml - $21 - an oil-free mineral primer with SPF 15 that helps even out skin tone, neutralize redness and provides the perfect base for flawless makeup application and keeps it looking fresh, while absorbing excess oils and minimizing the appearance of enlarged pores.

I am amazed at how much this primer helps on my oily t-zone - I used to have to touch up my foundation in the afternoon because it had disappeared but now all I need is a bit of powder and I'm good for the rest of the day!

VS Pro Airbrush FX Shadow Correcting Primer - 28ml - $18 - with a weightless formula has a subtle peach tint to instantly correct the look of dark shadows and spots as it creates a smooth, velvety surface and ensures a flawless foundation application that lasts.

What's nice about this one is because it has a bit of colour already, you don't necessarily need to apply foundation all over your face after you use it - just apply foundation to areas that really need it and leave the rest be!

Cargo Blu_Ray Activating Face Primer - 30ml - $34 - get ready for your close-up - with this lightweight primer developed for the high definition film biz to help reduce shine, refine pores, and to visibly reduce fine lines and imperfections. And if you're looking for a way to keep your gloss from migrating outside of your lips and into the little lines around your mouth check out No Bleeding Lips - $14.99 - although on further reflection the name is kinda gross, the results are great! You just use it to draw an invisible line around the outside of your lipline which creates a barrier against product bleed and feathering that lasts up to 5 hours. Also great for those dark coloured lipsticks!

I wasn't sure about the shape of the brush but it actually did make the mascara very easy to apply.

As you can see on the left, 2 coats and it lengthens like crazy. The right was my attempt at volume with 3 coats. What I find best about the mascara though is the mega-lift that it adds -
