Sleep your way to great skin with Estée Lauder, Aveeno and Boscia!

Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II - 30ml - $72, 50ml - $105 - slow down the look of premature aging, reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles and significantly improve the appearance of skin radiance and tone with a product that has always known that night is the best time to repair the day's damage and has now been improved to support the natural nighttime purification process of cellular catabolysis - which helps skin cells eliminate internal debris that can cause cellular damage. Due to age and environmental damage, the efficiency of the repair process declines and becomes desynchronized from the night and as a result, skin cells become cluttered with debris. Together, with skin's circadian rhythm, the discovery of this natural cellular repair function that peaks at night reinforces the critical link between night and skin's natural repair processes.

With these new scientific discoveries comes a new formulation with ChronoluxCB Technology that combines potent purifying and synchronizing technologies to maximize nightly renewal containing:

Catabolysis Technology for purifying - a complex of active ingredients that includes an algae extract and yeast extract to help skin cells increase their own natural catabolysis activity so that the skin's overall natural nightly renewal increases.

Chronolux Technology for synchronizing - clock gene technology that helps support the natural synchronization of skin's nighttime renewal process so that skin renews itself at exactly the right time.

As well, the formula contains: anti-pollution technology - to help reduce the appearance of visible damage caused by environmental factors; a blend of anti-irritants to help neutralize environmental damage; and  hyaluronic acid for continuous hydration.

Available now at Estée Lauder counters across Canada and online at www.esteelauder.ca.
Aveeno Positively Radiant Intensive Night Cream - 48ml - $22.99 - with an oil-free, hydrating formula that penetrates deep within skin's surface while you sleep to reveal an even, more radiant complexion when you wake. Features the Total Soy Complex contained in the rest of the Positively Radiant line - with natural soy, clinically proven to help even out skin tone and texture while providing moisturizing protection.

Available at food, drug and mass merchandisers across Canada.
Boscia Restorative Night Treatment - 30ml - $58 - with a light serum texture that delivers intense moisture throughout the night as it helps diminish visible signs of aging and strengthen skin’s defenses against future environmental aggressors with advanced anti-aging, botanical-based ingredients. Amino acid derivatives reinforce skin's natural protective lipid barrier and prevent dehydration while encapsulated vitamin A refines skin's texture to diminish the appearance of fine lines. Rice bran oil strengthens skin and provides essential moisture, marine complex protects from future environmental damage, and jojoba leaf, a powerful antioxidant, combats free radical damage while it nourishes and protects skin to prevent premature aging. While willowherb, a unique anti-irritant, helps to calm skin inflammation and reduce visible redness and irritation.

Available at Sephora and sephora.ca.

Marmalade the cat goes snap happy with the HTC One!

Greeting furless ones - Marmalade the cat here - I understand that you have been missing me and I don't blame you but I haven't really had anything to tell you about lately. With my extreme beauty there aren't many products worthy of my notice, until a company was wise enough to send me something to capture it with - an HTC One Smartphone. The phone part of it doesn't interest me so much, when cats want to communicate we make our calls from the top of the back fence at night - what makes the HTC One interesting is the camera aspect which offers pictures that are as sharp, clear and as richly colourful as those you would find on a regular camera. There was also some bla-bla about large, light-sensitive pixels but I saw something shiny and stopped paying attention - so let's just say it takes really pretty pictures - I was told it would be especially good for fashion pics and what better fashion is there then fur so I got some of my friends to model for me...
As you can see I live by the adage to always be the best looking one in your group of friends...
And since my friends all seem to be black and white this gives you an idea of how colour comes out.
It takes nice pictures in all kinds of light - here I am scoping the field for lunch mice!
It also does panoramic shots really easily.
Low level light and panoramic.
And even lying on my back checking out good climbing spots!
And of course what good is a camera phone that doesn't take a decent selfie...?!
The only thing it doesn't do is stop your stupid brother from photo-bombing you...
and totally taking over the shot - I swear I'm adopted!
HTC One needs to think about releasing this with meow commands though - it's a real bitch to operate without thumbs!

Our readers test drive Schick Hydro Silk Disposables - smooth legs and a chance at $100 - how can you lose?!

Schick Hydro Silk Disposables - 3 pack - $13.99 - combines the revolutionary technology of the Schick Hydro Silk refillable razor with the convenience and portability of a disposable, providing a moisture-replenishing shave no matter where life takes you!

Not only does it give you a close shave, it also cares for the skin with the unique water-activated moisturizing serum strip that is infused with marine extracts that hydrate longer than any other razor - up to 2 hours after shaving and the 5 curve sensing blades with skin guards help to protect your skin from irritation.

Last month we offered 25 of our readers a chance to try out Schick Hydro Silk Disposables for themselves. Most of the testers seemed to be pretty skeptical  that a disposable razor could offer a comparable shave to what they are used to getting from their refillable razor but it seemed once they tried it they were all believers! The reviews were all positive and some of the comments we heard were:

Offers a close shave with no nicks or cuts and leaves skin silky smooth!
Love the handle - the shape and the grip made it easy to hold on to even with wet hands!
Love the colour - it coordinates perfectly with my bathroom!
It's amazing how light it is!
It's great to be able to use it even without a shaving gel!

And if getting to try out this great new razor wasn't reward enough - everyone who sent back their review was also entered to win a $100 Visa Gift Card - and the winner is - Sonya J.! Congrats, you'll be able to buy enough razors to keep yourself smooth for the foreseeable future (or whatever else you might want)!

ghd has new stylers that are cute as candy!

ghd has a limted edition Candy Collection of Classic Stylers in colours so sweet they'll make your teeth ache! There's Lemon and Mint but my particular fave is -

ghd Classic Violet 1" Professional Styler - $199 -with ceramic heat technology to straighten and smooth and a rounded body to create perfect waves and curls.
ghd was kind enough to send me a styler and ask me to either recreate one of the styles from the ghd hair gallery (which you should check out, there are some really cool looks there) or to create my own summer inspired hairstyle. I recently chopped all of my hair off so there is a limited amount of styles for it but my biggest summer issue, no matter what it's length is frizziness - so I really count on a good styler to smooth my hair out without frying it!

I have fine hair that frizzes easily so I have to be careful when working with heat - I need ceramic plates to smooth and even heat to get the job done quickly with a minimum of damage and the ghd made the grade on both counts. I used a couple of drops of serum in wet hair, blow dried it until it was just slightly damp and then ran the styler through for about 10 minutes and you can see the result - hair that is practically perfectly smooth and frizz free with super shine - I'm looking forward to also being able to use it to create an easy flip once my hair grows out a bit!

The other aspects of the styler that I really appreciated was the swivel cord that keeps it from getting all tangled as you move it around your head and the 30 minute automatic shut-off because I'm famously bad for forgetting to turn off my tools!
