Crazy for CC - Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream

Just when I thought I had mastered BB creams, along comes CC creams to totally confuse me...

In theory BB and CC creams are different - but that difference is really subtle - CC  stands for “colour correcting” and the products contain light diffusing particles that are meant to address skin tone issues like redness or sallowness - while BB creams are like tinted moisturizers on steroids with all kinds of skin care benefits thrown in.

I took care of my CC cream virginity with:

Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream SPF 30 Hydrating Colour Corrector - 30ml - $39 - with a lightweight and refreshing texture that comes in 5 shades: Very Light, Light, Light Medium, Medium and Medium Deep - for immediate glowing and nautral looking skin with a multi-functional colour correcting treatment that perfects as it enhances the skin's natural radiance while leaving it hydrated both immediately and all-day and protected with an SPF 30.

The formula contains colour correcting optics that visibly correct a range of complexion concerns: dull, ashy skin appears more luminous and brighter; sallow, yellow skin turns into a peachy glow; and blotchy redness is neutralized. Skin imperfections are immediatley corrected for a virtually flawless look, leaving skin with a radiant finish.

Now I must admit, I have only tried a couple of CC creams so far as oppossed to the dozens of BB creams that I have slapped on my face but I don't really see a big difference between the two types - if you blind cream-tested me I would be hard pressed to tell you which was which!

What I can say about this Clinique CC is comparison with other BB's I've tried is I found it to have more coverage - not a full coverage by any means but more then the usual sheer coverage that I have come to expect from a BB - but with a light and moisturizing feel! Because of my sumertime-induced combination skin I have a hard time finding the right balance of moisturizer this time of year - too much and my face becomes a greasy mess, too little and my skin feels tight in any non-T-zone areas. I've been wearing the Clinique CC over a serum and it has been perfect for me!

Available at Clinique counters across Canada and at www.clinique.com.

  1. Ah, first BB Creams, now CC Creams - you give an excellent description that BB Creams are like Tinted Moisturizers on steroids. I find the CC Creams offer lighter shades: MAC, Smashbox, and now Clinique. A love the "Very Light" shade - the coverage is good and perfect for hot summer days when foundation and powder seem unbearable.
