Madonna Truth or Dare by Madonna - great for wearing to the 4pm Early Bird Special at Denny's!

Madonna - her name conjures up so many things for me: super star, business woman, innovator, chameleon - I've followed her career since the beginning and have always admired the way she has changed with the times and kept herself relevant. So when I heard she was coming out with her first fragrance I was pretty excited - I figured it would be hot, spicy, exotic, sensual, daring - any or all of the above. Even the advertising lends credence to my assumption.

What I certainly wasn't expecting it to smell like was old lady. It's meant to be a contemporary and sexy reinvention of a classic white floral but all it conjures up for me is talcum powder, acrylic sweaters in colours that begin with the word "powder" and sensible orthopedic shoes. I guess the whole "Madge" thing was a harbinger of geriatric events to come...

With top notes of rich gardenia, creamy tuberrose and dewy neroli; heart notes of jasmine, benzoin tears and white lily petals; and base notes of vanilla absolute, caramelized amber and musk aura - it may just be your thing, or make a heck of a Christmas gift for grandma!

Truth or Dare by Madonna - 50ml EDP - $65, 75ml EDP - $75 - is available at The Bay, Sears, Sephora, Shoppers Drug Mart and Jean Coutu.

As well there is a 200ml Body Lotion - $39, 200ml Shower Gel - $35 - at The Bay, Sears and Jean Coutu.

Be sure to pick some up the next time you are in the store for your weekly supply of Depends!

  1. Oh no. No. Sorry- every older, mature woman that I know wears gorgeous elegant scents like Chanel No5, or Lanvin Arpege, or Hermes Caleche. Even saucy ones like YSL Opium. Can we just stop using the term "old lady" as derogatory please? I don't think we need to insult an entire demographic....

Madonna's Truth Or Dare smells like Snookie - like burnt hair extensions, self tanner and desperation. No self-respecting older woman I know would ever wear such a cheap smelling crap scent.

Random fact: Madonna never took off her sunglasses once in her consultations with her perfumer. Really, Madonna? Yawn.

    1. Old lady and older lady do not mean the same thing in my book - they are two entirely different kettles of fish - speaking of which, fish would have been a far preferable scent for the fragrance! Older ladies with with panache and style never wear acrylic, especially with those detachable lace collars... I digress.

Have to disagree with you on the Snookie - there is nothing youthful, even in a slutty fame-whorish kind of way, at all about Truth or Dare! ;-)

      Best, Lisamarie
