Hana Flat-Iron: Should You Believe The Hype?

Like seemingly every beauty blogger in the blogosphere, we received a Hana flat iron, ($189) as part of a big media blitz campaign. Now if you read the reviews, everybody is raving about it...but I won't. My first impression was that this flat iron looked cheaply made and the "Made in Korea" label didn't exactly fill me with confidence (Made in Germany = better, Made in Taiwan = good, Made in Korea..= not so good).

That being said, the iron is hot enough to straighten the thickest hair. So in terms of straightening action it's a good iron. It's 100% ceramic etc... so what's the problem? This iron gets very hot due to a lack of protection and the use of cheap plastic. And guess what? After using it for less than one month... It broke. Considering how many good flat irons there are out there... you'll want to pass on this one.

  1. wow.. it broke after a month? I thought it wasn't good anyway because why would they give it out free to so many beauty bloggers when it's worth so much?

  2. Exactly! Seriously it looked flimsy so I would not even pick that in a store. Ghd or Phi for that price do an excellent job. I have a Babyliss (I paid around $100, 3 years ago) which is also pretty good.

  3. Wow, that sucks, and its $198 too! I have a $30 drugstore flat iron that works amazingly, I don't think I will be upgrading anytime to this...

  4. Wow! It did seem like every single big-name blogger received one.. maybe they didn't really use it much?

I have a cheap flat iron from walmart that works wonders.. Even with my compulsive spending, I still couldn't justify getting one for almost $200.

  5. Nice to see an honest review. I was feeling a little skeptical about the "raves" I'd seen xx

  6. Thanks for the honest review. I'm glad that you posted this because I was a bit skeptical about all those raving reviews about it.. I had the same thought too about it not being as high quality as some claim because of where it's manufactured. I still have my Chi 2" from over 3 years ago and that baby still heats up in less than a minute & works wonders for my hair. I can't use it to create curls though, so that's why I was interested in the Hana flat iron.

  7. Thanks for the review!! It's actually refreshing to see that this flat iron is not the end all-be all for flat irons based on all other reviews I've seen. Now I don't regret saying no to reviewing it :-)

  8. LOL well I guess the people who reviewed it must have only tried it once or twice then. I was getting really annoyed at seeing the Missiko Hana reviews and giveaways, tbh.
