So the seminar was all about high definition makeup, which I thought sounded interesting but since I'm not in the biz, wasn't sure if this would have any bearing on my actual life but as it turns out, and here's what I didn't know about doing makeup for high def is that if the makeup doesn't look good in person, it won't look good in HD! Tracy also pointed out that so many devices are displaying HD now that it can even be a consideration for things you never even thought of - thankfully I'm not a Youtube guru and avoid getting my picture taken whenever possible but the rest of you be warned!
Of course Make Up For Ever has a fabulous HD line of which I am already a fan so it was interesting to get Tracy's thoughts on the products:
HD Elixir - $42 - delivers an instant boost of hydration as well as a smoothing effect and as we know, great looking skin is all in the prep!
HD Microperfecting Primer - $37 - also comes in 5 colour correcting shades although Tracy told us she prefers the clear to create a protective layer on the skin so that foundation glides on easier and lasts longer.
HD Invisible Cover Foundation - $46 - contains round pigments to diffuse and blur light and flex with the skin as well as silica beads to blur texture - best applied and blended with feathery strokes, feathering the product out towards the edges of the face - I also never realized that although it's not waterproof, it is water resistent!
HD Microfinish Powder - $34 - the biggest mistake you can make with this powder is to overuse it! A tiny amount only is needed and it's not meant to be layered or you'll end up with that unattractive white cast that you sometimes see in celebrity pictures. (Oh and a pressed version is in the works)!
HD Invisible Cover Concealer - $32 - this concealer is very pigmented so less product (2 clicks for both eyes) is needed which means the tube is going to last you a lot longer than another concealer would. It's great to blur and soften area around eye, lighten dark circles and reduce puffiness - like putting on an eye cream with your concealer
HD Microfinish Blush - $29 - this has been my longtime fave product from the HD line! It's an oil-free gel-cream-liquid that comes in 14 shades and is highly pigmented. Just remember that a little goes a long way, half a pump is all you need!
One thing I have noticed about the HD products is that there is no shimmer in any of them and now I know why, shimmer is a big no no in HD, it just ends up looking glaring - from what I understand so do bright, vibrant colours and lipgloss - so thank god my life isn't shot in HD!
You can find Make Up For Ever products at Sephora so make sure you go in and play with them next time you are there!
