Fall for Aubade!

After attending last week's lingerie runway show, I went right to Aubade's website and selected a few designs to check out during my next shopping trip -and just so you know: I only go lingerie shopping once a year!- Here is a snippet of the fall collection, enjoy!

A French Affair: My Love Story with Lingerie and...Soccer Players!

I attended a fashion show organized by the Lingerie Française (French Lingerie Association) last week and it definitely sparked a desire for shopping during these last few days.  Held at the Wychwood Barns in Toronto, the show was presented by lingerie powerhouses such as Chantelle, Empreinte, Passionata, Princesse tam•tam, Antinéa, Simone Pérèle and Lise Charmel (Gerbe joined the fun too). It started with an old French song (these days French music is more about rap and techno but whatever...), sung live on the runway before the models started strutting in their pretty underwear. I have to say: I've never seen so many straight men at a fashion show! I was sitting next to the quite delicious Toronto Soccer team (I kept on asking what the TFC tag meant, until someone told me, ha ha ha!) and those guys didn't miss a beat! The guy next to me tried to pretend he was interested in the runway program for about 5 seconds until he gave up and just stared at the girls.  He may even have drooled. But then I drooled too, hopefully not for the same reasons!

Personally, I have a weakness for Aubade and Lise Charmel  - their collections usually include lots of embroideries and colors - it's a work of art and their bras last you for years. Now, I wish I would find these brands as easily in Toronto as I do in France (where I can even buy my Passionata underwear at the supermarket!), but they are still mostly confined to specialized boutiques. The Bay carries a few of these brands too. So now you know what to do ladies... go get yourself a saucy lingerie set, pronto!

Have I mentioned lately how much I hate Victoria's Secret and La Senza? Yeah, I hate them.

Aubade's Exotic Flair for Spring: a Feast for Your Eyes!

As usual Aubade delivers stunning pictures for this latest spring collection. The inspiration is a sensual and exotic woman. Safari and Japanese inspirations mix beautifully here. Those bras are not just pretty, they will last (and support) you for a long time. And I'm sure the last picture will convince you of Aubade's appeal...
Prices usually range between $80-$200, not cheap, but let me tell you: every woman should have a beautiful set like one of these.

The Aubade 2010 Calendar is Out, and It's Hot!

Right on time for Christmas, the Aubade 2010 Calendar is out and it's a feast for your eyes! Great pictures, beautiful designs (I looooove Aubade)...it will keep guys happy and hopefully give them ideas for their xmas shopping, to please the women in their lives, if you know what I mean...

PS: Please don't send me any silly comment about how these pictures are like "porno". It's not my fault if you were raised by wolves and you have issues with the woman's body. Go talk to your therapist instead. Or someone who cares (chances are, even your therapist doesn't).

Screw Love. All You Need is a Bra!

On my way to the subway this morning, I saw something that made me cringe and recoil with horror: a weakly supported bosom that was trying to escape south. And by south, I mean more south than a couple of retirees moving to Florida. Yeah, I know it's called gravity. And that's why you need a GOOD bra. Especially if your girls are large. A good bra not only lifts, it also creates a waist. I have seen G cup girls looking like Ds just because they had excellent support. This is common sense, yet many women don't seem to get it. And don't even get me started with women who go to work braless...

1 - Forget Your Vanity. You NEED to get the right bra size.
For many years, I was convinced I was small and therefore I was a B cup. I am indeed small but after a proper fitting, I discovered I was a C cup. Forget your preconceptions, get measured, preferably once/twice a year.
If you're a curvy girl, don't shy away from bigger cups. It is what it is. Your entire breast should fit inside the cup, if it spills over, it's too small!
The back of your bra must be straight and the straps shouldn't hurt. Basically, whether you're an A or a G, you should feel comfortable.

2  - Now, ladies, comfort and fit don't mean UGLY!
Every woman out there should have at least a couple of really nice, sexy and feminine sets of lingerie. Please, NO Mickey Mouse or other stupid cartoons on your underwear, you're not 10 years old anymore.
AUBADE is my personal favorite, their bras are both comfortable and beautiful, and most of all they are likely to last longer than your man, too. A good investment, really.

AUBADE is a little pricey but it's worth every penny!

For larger breasts, I'd recommend brands like Triumph, Warners and Barbara.

Cheaper lingerie options would include Passionata, Princesse Tam Tam. The WINNERS chain has a decent selection as well.

Most of all, STAY AWAY  from La Senza and Victoria's Secret. These stores are good to buy really basic underwear (black or nude thongs for example) but the quality and fit of their bras are mediocre at best (and overall, not that cheap).

For our Torontonian ladies, check out the best lingerie stores in Toronto

Until, next time...please wear a bra!
