Eye Love Wednesday - MUD Cosmetics 3-Step Smoky Eye

I'm a fan of how-to's from the pros especially for trends that I admire but can never seem to get right on my own - like a smoky eye which I love and have struggled with - luckily for me, MUD makes it easy to get the perfect smoky eye in 3 easy steps! All that is needed are 4 Eye Colour Refill Pans in Dulce de Leche, Chamois, Espresso and Onyx - $8.50 each and a 4-Hole Eye Colour Refillable Palette - $10 to - keep them in:

Step 1: using a fluffy blending brush, apply the Chamois shade across the lid as an even base of colour - lightly sweep from the outer corner of the lid all the way across and up into the fold or crease.

Step 2: apply the Espresso shade with a smudge brush on the outside corner of the lid and work across the fold or crease - to prevent the eye from drooping, don't exceed the outer corner - place the brush on the outer corner of the crease and use small circular motions as you follow the crease toward the inner corner.

Step 3: apply the Dulce de Leche on the brow bone, directly below the eyebrow to create a beautiful highlight that will accentuate the brow - then apply the same shade to the inner portion of the eye lid, using the brush to blend the lighter colour into the Espresso shade.

Use the Onyx shade to line which you can then layer with a swipe of Eye Pencil Liner in Black - $18 - for staying power - finish with a touch of Volumizing Mascara - $19 - and you just finished the easiest, most beautiful smoky eye ever!

You're gonna want to check out the Sears Fall 2013 Look! report with Nevada featuring Bar Refaeli...

If you've picked up the Sears Fall 2013 Look! report you'll already have seen the lovely Bar Refaeli gracing the cover - who was also in town lately to launch the Nevada line that she is the face of! Sadly, I wasn't able to attend the event - although tall, glamourous supermodels do prefer that us short little things stay away from them as we make them feel all big and gawky so it's probably just as well that I wasn't there - nothing worse then a jealous supermodel!

Sears was kind enough to invite me to the store and check out the new offerings from the Look! report in person and see what I would choose for myself if I had $100 to spend. To be honest when they offered I thought it would be hard, Sears is not where I think of when I'm looking for trendy and fashionable clothes. If you have similar feelings then you will probably be as surprised as I was to see the new collection - was I able to spend a hundred bucks? Easily!

The first thing I was drawn to was this Pencil Skirt - $49.99 - it comes in 4 patterns and I couldn't decide between the check and the animal print but finally decided I couldn't go wrong with animal print!

The other peice I fell in love with is this Jacquard Wrap Sweater - $69.99 which is so cozy that it will even keep me warm in the meat locker temperatures that they insist on keeping my office at -while still looking cute!

You'll probably also notice a change in the footwear thanks to their collaboration with the Aldo Group's team of designers - so many boots to choose from!

Fragrant Friday - Guess Girl

Guess has a new fragrance described as youthful, flirty and extra- sexy - I don't know how I feel about youth being extra-sexy so I'm going to tell myself they mean this for the extra-sexy young-at-heart!

Madonna Truth or Dare by Madonna - great for wearing to the 4pm Early Bird Special at Denny's!

Madonna - her name conjures up so many things for me: super star, business woman, innovator, chameleon - I've followed her career since the beginning and have always admired the way she has changed with the times and kept herself relevant. So when I heard she was coming out with her first fragrance I was pretty excited - I figured it would be hot, spicy, exotic, sensual, daring - any or all of the above. Even the advertising lends credence to my assumption.

What I certainly wasn't expecting it to smell like was old lady. It's meant to be a contemporary and sexy reinvention of a classic white floral but all it conjures up for me is talcum powder, acrylic sweaters in colours that begin with the word "powder" and sensible orthopedic shoes. I guess the whole "Madge" thing was a harbinger of geriatric events to come...

With top notes of rich gardenia, creamy tuberrose and dewy neroli; heart notes of jasmine, benzoin tears and white lily petals; and base notes of vanilla absolute, caramelized amber and musk aura - it may just be your thing, or make a heck of a Christmas gift for grandma!

A younger interpretation of the original - the fresh burst of bergamot gives way to a delicate floral heart: an orchestrated overdose of rose, jasmine and iris ending with a vanilla and tonka bean base.

The scent of the original brings back great memories of a special lady that I knew when I was young who wore it but it's definitely too "old" of a fragrance for me to want to wear. I appreciate that they've come out with a younger version of it - I still recognize hints of the original in it but it has a very young vibe!
