We’re officially down to the wire. Christmas is 2 weeks away and while I’m sure the ultra-organized among us had all their gifts wrapped and labelled back in November, the rest of us are panic-scrolling and whispering “it’s fine” into our coffee mugs. 

 

Some people are easy to shop for - they’ll hand you a list, a link and possibly a coupon code. Others are vague, mysterious and fully expect you to read their mind. But the hardest gifts? The people you don’t know super well but still feel obligated to buy for. You know the ones: your hairdresser, yoga instructor, kids’ teachers, gift-exchange randoms… and yes, somehow your spouse still ends up on this list! You could of course go the gift card route but to me, any gift card under $50 is kind of cheap so physical gifts are preferred for this.

And it's no lie, my hair really did look better with the first use and because results last up to 4 washes you don't need to use it every time - it's a small bottle but it will last!

Love your planet with Shoppers Drug Mart Quo Beauty and TerraCycle!

Welcome to Earth Month and can I just say that I love it when companies do more than just pay lip service to environmental commitment!

 

Such is the case with Shoppers Drug Mart - just a little under a year ago saw the launch of “More Planet Love” by Quo Beauty which includes over 500 products with more sustainable packaging, using recycled plastics, mono-materials and reduced plastic packaging. Additionally, the entire Quo Beauty lineup is vegan, cruelty-free, and PETA-certified, further contributing to a more sustainable planet. 

 

If you are looking for a great intro to the products check out: 

Quo Beauty More Planet Love Picks - $29.99 - a curated set of products include a shimmer lip oil, mascara and eyeliner made with a minimum 70% naturally-derived ingredients and 30% recycled plastic.

 

Following that up, Shoppers Drug Mart is launching the new Quo Beauty Cosmetics Free Recycling Program in partnership with international recycling leader TerraCycle which introduces a convenient solution for customers to recycle empty Quo Beauty cosmetics components and keep plastic packaging from going to landfills and incinerators. For each pound of cosmetics waste shipped in through the recycling program, $1 will be donated to Shoppers Foundation for Women’s Health - which creates equitable and accessible care for all women in Canada, empowering them to lead healthier lives. 

 

How does the TerraCycle program work? It's easy peasy - just collect your eligible empty Quo Beauty and get a prepaid shipping label to send them in by signing up on the TerraCycle program page here. Once collected, the cosmetic packaging is cleaned and separated by material type, and then recycled into raw formats that manufacturers use to make new products. 

 

The Quo Beauty products that can be recycled include: plastic and glass tubes, pots, pumps, sprays and jars; lipstick, lip balm, lip gloss tubes and wands; mascara tubes and wands; eyeliner pencils and components; eyeshadow and bronzer components; foundation packaging; powder components and concealer tubes and sticks.

What can't be recycled: nail polish bottles; nail polish remover bottles; makeup wipes and sponges; makeup brushes and pressurized canisters (including aerosol cans).

This week I'm obsessed with... Andalou Naturals 1000 Roses Perfecting Lip Sugar Scrub & Quo Beauty Lip + Cheek Stick!

I have to say, masking sure was great for hiding sins of the mouth such as dry, flaky lips! Now that there is less masking going on and lips are on full display there is a delicious way to solve that problem at least:

3 items I love from the Quo Beauty Halloween collection (and will want to use all year round)!

Love the drama of Halloween makeup but hate spending money on something that you will only use for one night?! Fear not, Quo Beauty is here with a collection that you will be reaching for all year round and I have a top 3 fave from it:

 

Quo Beauty Limited Edition Gold Glitter Drops - $12 - add a sparkly finish to cheekbones, collarbones or an all-over face glow - post Halloween you will still need the glow, just use more sparingly! I would love it regardless just for the wonderful skull container - you will need to go in-store for this one, it's already sold out online!

Quo Beauty Eyeshadow Palette in Sweet as Honey - $25 - with lots of metallic shades to use liberally for a glittering Halloween eye look or deep shades for extra drama - post Halloween these shades will make for a beautiful wash of colour with the deeper colours adding the perfect pop of colour to the crease or as a liner!

Quo Beauty Lip Contour Pencil in Red Wine - $12 - perfect for lining in preparation for for deep Halloween lipstick and creepy blood effects - post Halloween I plan to use lightly all over my lips, blend in with my finger and top with a layer of lipbalm for a flush of colour that just won't budge (even under masks)!
