Eye Love Wednesday - Peptalash

If you've been wanting to try a lash enhancer but have been put off by the high price tags or already use one but are tired for paying so much then will you ever be happy to hear about:

Peptalash - $24.99 - contains a combination of clinically proven peptides that work together to promote lashes that appear longer (as much as 43 per cent) and fuller (up to almost three times the volume). As well, one of the peptides naturally boost the pigmentation process of the skin on the lash line, stimulating the melanin production in the skin which leads to a more intense and dark lash line.

It's easy to use, just apply morning and evening to the base of the upper and lover eyelashes with the applicator brush - although I've been skipping the lower lashes because I don't want them any longer!

I've been using it for a month now and I can definitely see the difference my lashes are much longer and a bit thicker - it's taken me a month to get results because I keep forgetting to put in on twice a day, once is all I seem to be able to handle - you still get results, it just takes twice as long! When trying to take a picture to show you the difference I realized that my damn lashes are so blonde on the tips that you couldn't see a difference at all so here are a couple of Mascara Monday pictures - they are both L'Oreal Voluminous False Fibre (just different colours) so I figure it's a pretty fair comparison!

Eye Love Wednesday - shu uemura Ultimate Eye Essentials!

Red Juvenus Roll-Away Instant Eye Fatigue Corrector - 10ml - $35 - kick tired-looking eyes, dark circles and puffiness to the curb while boosting energy flow and making your eyes look brighter. Eyelash Curler - $24 - what can I say about what is to many, the pinnacle of eyelash curlers! If you haven't tried it for yourself, you are missing out!

Ultimate Natural Mascara - $33 - creates an ultra thin film on the lash surface which leads to an extremely natural, clean and separate finish with powerful curl holding ability and without smudging or flaking. This sounds to be right up my alley so stay tuned for swatches, I'm going to have to try this one for myself!

Mister Lash Booster - good enough to deserve a title!

What is it about giving a product a title that makes me think that it must be good?! As you know, I'm a lash serum junkie so I knew I had to try this one!

Enter Mister Lash Booster - $32 -

It's got a very funky looking applicator with soft little spikes which are meant to gently massage the roots of your eyelashes - and as we know, massage is good for the circulation which helps get the product working better and faster!

The product itself is a light, non-sticky gel.  It contains a marine extract for strengthening and thickening, polymers to protect and add shine and curve, and soy proteins to smooth the surface of the lashes.

It's easy to use, just twist the base to dispense the serum and apply starting at the base of the upper lashes, work the product outwards towards the tip like a regular mascara.  Then repeat for the lower lashes.

What is cool about this one is that it can be used at night to revitalize lashes while you sleep or during the day like a clear mascara if you are going for a more natural look or underneath your mascara as a primer.

I've been trying it out for several weeks now and have been very pleased with how soft and healthy my eyelashes are!  I love it wearing it under mascara, it helps the mascara glide on so easily!  I've also been loving it for a natural weekend look when I normally wouldn't wear mascara, it just gives my eyes a little extra polish for the no makeup look!

Mascaras I am loving right now - Lancôme Définicils Precious Cells, Bourjois Paris Mascara Elastic and just for fun, lash boosters from Lancôme and Jillian Dempsey for Avon!

Lancôme Définicils Precious Cells - $34 - Définicils has long been a mascara staple for me so I was excited to see it doing something new and different!  The clever little scientists at Lancôme have been spending their time studying eyelashes to find a way to make them grow better and fall out less.  All there hard work has brought us a brand new mascara that will regenerate the condition of lashes while delivering ultimate definition and lash by lash fullness.  Définicils Precious Cells contains extract from Malus Domestica- a Swiss apple variety, which was selected for its high resistance and contains a complex association of cellular structural components such as peptides, lipids and sugars that can be assimilated by cells.  As well as Madecassoside - a healing plant from Madagascar that helps strengthen and thicken lashes; and Arginine - a nourishing amino acid with conditioning properties.

4 weeks to better lashes?  Where do I sign up?!  I stopped using my most recent lash enhancer for several weeks before starting this one so I would get the full effects of the mascara.  Here's what I experienced:  my lashes look thicker, even when I'm not wearing any mascara, I don't know if that's because they are healthier but they are just more "there" if that makes any sense and they don't seem to fall out as easily or as often, even when I really scrub at my eyes to get eyeliner off.  I wouldn't say they are dramatically longer like they become when I use RapidLash, but they are more obvious looking.  It has the same great Définicils formula, although it might be slightly wetter, that I love and the brush is better with a combination of long and short bristles.  I don't find it to be a super thickening mascara so if you like big drama, this won't do it by itself - check at the bottom of my post for a solution to this.  I would say that Définicils Precious Cells is a must try mascara, especially if you are already a fan of Lancôme mascaras in general.

Bourjois Paris Mascara Elastic - $20 - suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers if you are looking for length, this is the right place to look for up to 130% extension beyond the natural length of your lashes.  Enriched with hevea and two types of polymers for length as well as gum arabic, natural waxes and vitamin E derivatives to make it good for your lashes.  The lash extending brush has two parts:  the reservoirs - to release the formula along the whole length of the lash and the bristles - to separate and visually increase the length of every single lash.

If you are looking for a mascara to give you some serious length, this is where you want to be - my lashes become almost stupidly long with this mascara!  Just remember before using to wipe the tip of the brush off on the tube opening before applying - the formula seems to cause little polymer strings to form between the brush and the tube!

A lash booster is the perfect way to turn a lengthening or defining mascara into a more volumizing one!
Lancôme Cils Booster XL - 5.5g - $27 - contains cellulose micro-fibers for a comfortable and even application.

Jillian Dempsey for Avon Professional Lash Booster - 7g - $9.99 - has a gel formula with custom fibres that cling to mascara to create a full sexy look.  Available at 1-800-265-AVON or www.avon.ca

There are different schools of thought on the right order to apply the booster with your mascara but I have found the most success by applying a layer of mascara, a layer of booster and then another layer of mascara.  You don't need any drying time between layers, by the time you apply to one eye, the other eye is ready.  If you haven't tried a lash booster in a while because you are remembering them as the super flaky, fluffy bits everywhere formula that they used to be, you are in for a pleasant surprise - they've come a long way baby!
