Stay warm from head to toes with Scala Collezione, Kushyfoot and LL Bean!

The cold weather has arrived with a vengeance which has me scrambling for ways to stay warm while still looking good. Sound hard? Not so much thanks to stylish warmth from:

Want to keep your ears warm without messing up your hair? Then a headband is the way to go and you can't beat the cute factor of this Scala Collezione Boiled Wool Headband embellished with rosettes - $30 - in 5 colours: black, charcoal, ivory, wine and chocolate.

Available online at http://www.hartfordyork.com/product/7239/womens-hats-ss.
I wear black tights pretty much every day once the weather gets cold but regular tights can leave my legs chilly and the thick wool ones look bulky (and no one wants their legs looking thicker then they have to be) so I am thrilled with the discovery of Kushyfoot Fleece Lined Tights - $8.99 - available in small/medium and medium/tall - for legs that are smooth and sleek on the outside and comfy cozy on the inside!

Available at retailers across North America and online at www.kushyfoot.com.
Regular long underwear is bulky and can overheat you when indoors which is why I love the lightweight layering and warming qualities of silk:

LL Bean Silk Pointelle Three-Quarter Sleeve Low Scoopneck - $44.95 - in sizes from XS to XL - provides a layer of warmth against winter's cold in a feminine pointelle-knit fabric. Ideal for everyday wear, it's extremely lightweight and layers smoothly under clothes without adding bulk.

Available online at www.llbean.com.

Stay warm this winter with Twittens, CH*Armz, 180s and Little Hotties!

I saw my first snowflakes last night which got me  preparing myself for the cold weather that I just know is coming!  Here are some things I stumbled across that are a little bit different from your usual scarves and gloves...

Proof that people are crazy - someone came up with Twittens so you never have to stop holding your beloveds hand, even when it's cold outside!  I suppose it's romantic or something but if I saw you walking down the street wearing them I would be forced to mock you - fair warning!  If you are planning on avoiding me and getting a pair of these, you can find them on the website - www.thetwitten.com where you can even get the pattern to knit your own twittens if you are so inclined.  Don't knit me a pair!
CH*Armz - $25 - I am notorious for underestimating how hot or cold I am going to be at any given time so I tend to dress in layers - these arm warmer things are brilliant - put them on when you're cold, take them off when you're hot, without having to find a change room!  They come in funky prints and basic solid colours and I think a black pair should be a staple in everyone's wardrobe!  They are also available in a couple of sizes and a longer length, which is great if you have orangutan arms like Christelle! Go to http://ch-armz.com to check them out and order.
180s Behind-the-Head Ear Warmers - $35 - Someone finally realized that I hate ear muffs because they mess up your hair.  These behind the head style ones won't and are super warm! They come in lots of different patterns like this hounds tooth one that I adore and they are adjustable!  Available at The Bay, Sears, Mark's and Zellers. Check out www.180s.com for more info or to look at pretty pictures.

Little Hotties Warmers - small, lightweight warmers are made of all natural ingredients and are air activated.  They come in various types and sizes for all your cold bits: Hand Warmers - $1.99 - lasts up to 8 hours, Adhesive Body Warmers - $2.49 - lasts up to 12 hours, Adhesive Toe Warmers - $2.49 - lasts up to 5 hours.  Available at Zellers, Walmart and London Drug locations across Canada.  For more info go to www.littlehottieswarmers.com

Cougar Boots help me relive my childhood with style!

In my younger years there were three things that I really desperately wanted:  a Daniel Hecher sweatshirt from Fairweathers in a pastel colour, a pair of white Nike running shoes with the light blue swoosh and a pair of Cougar boots - the pillow boot style pictured here.  My mother, having no understanding, and probably no money to indulge the desires of a young girl, never did oblige so I lived with my knockoffs and dreamed of the day when I would be a grownup and could buy any little thing my heart desired!

Being a grownup isn't all it's cracked up to be but it does have some advantages such as being able to eat cake for dinner and  to dress myself in things that don't come from the clearance rack at Sears!  Luckily my love for this particular style of Cougar boots didn't survive my childhood, but that's okay because along with me, Cougar has become a lot more fashionable!  And since I have every intention of being a cougar someday (and I guess if we are counting under aged yumminess like Taylor Lautner, I already am one) this seems like appropriately named footwear for me!

I showed you the Ringo Star boots the other day in my post on puffer coats - I think that puffer boots are a great alternative for following the trend without having to be allover puffy.  What I really love about these boots is that they fit over my calves - I never thought my calves were particularly large until this high boot trend came in and nothing would zip over them!  Keep in mind that unless you are a shortie like me, these probably won't go all the way up to your knees like they do on me, but I don't mind, I'm going to have me some warm calves this winter!

Along with winter boots, Cougar also has a line of rain boots, or wellies as we call them around my house - if you never thought a wellie could be edgy check out these biker boot inspired ones!  My only issue is that they only come in full sizes and as I am a half size, I had to get them a half size bigger - if I ever got my foot stuck in a mud puddle, my foot would come free and the boot wouldn't!

You can check out these and all of the styles at www.cougarboots.com

What do we all think about the new Cougar Boots does anyone remember wearing them the first time around?

Puffer coats are everywhere! Here's a few coats from Danier, Esprit, Guess and Reitmans! Not to mention accessories from 180s, Cougar Boots and Nine West!

Danier Puffer Bomber - Style 104030480 - $599 - with soft lamb leather and an oversized funnel collar this puffer has a luxurious look and feel.
Esprit Puffer Jacket - Style IQ1832 - $179.50 - comes in blue black and grey with a shiny finish, detachable hood and belt.  It's also long enough to keep your butt warm!  I was in Esprit on the weekend and they had lots of different puffers, so you should make a stop there if you are puffer shopping!
Guess Nikki Puffer Jacket - Style W0F220MD949 - $178 - love the faux fur collar on this one!
Reitmans Puffer Coat - $150 -  short down filled coat with faux fur trim in white

As you can see they come in a range of prices, from luxe to very affordable! Will I be picking up a puffer?  Not sure on that one, I've tried a few on and it really does seem to look better on girls who are tall and slim so I'm still debating!  If you are like me and haven't embraced the all over puffer trend - a puffer accessory is a great alternative!
180s Behind-the-Head Ear Warmers - $35 - they're cute, they're puffy and they won't mess up your hair!  The puffer style comes in other colours and there are other styles as well. And if you have a giant head like Christelle, you will be happy to know they are adjustable!  Available at The Bay, Sears, Mark's and Zellers.

Cougar Boots - Ringo Star - $200 - nylon with a polar plush lining to keep your tootsies super warm up to -30° C.  Love the (faux) fur trim!  Also available in white.  Check out www.cougarboots.com for availability.
Or take the trend inside with this Nine West New City Medium Frame Bag - $150 - it's not really puffer, but it has the look and it helps you embrace the Mad Men trend while you're at it!

So what do we think about puffering?  Yea or Nay?
