Diesel Loverdose - 30ml - $54, 50ml - $69, 75ml - $93 - how would you like a fragrance that possesses molecules that stimulate the hypothalamus, the part of the brain responsible for attraction and lust? This floral–spicy fragrance has top notes of star anise and mandarin; heart notes of Sambac jasmine, licorice and gardenia petals; and base notes of amber, vanilla and woody notes.

I don't know about stimulating lust, but I sure do love the way this one smells! It's warm and sweet and exactly the kind of scent I love best!
Guess Seductive I'm Yours -  50ml EDT - $69, 75ml EDT - $85 - with top notes of of passion fruit and vanilla; heart notes of of magnolia and tiare; and base notes of various woods and musk.
Guess Seductive Homme - 50ml EDT - $59, 100ml EDT - $75 - with top notes of cardamom milk, mandarin pulp and pink pepper; heart notes of vanilla orchid, violet leaves and vetiver; and base notes of patchouli, sandalwood, amber and musk.

Prevage Night Anti-aging Restorative Cream - 50ml - $160 - helps to fight the visible effects of environmental damage from the day and enhance skin’s natural moisture and restorative, working to minimize the appearance of lines, wrinkles, discolorations and the effects of sun damage and is proven to help: Reverse dryness with intensive moisture; Enhance skin’s own natural nighttime restorative process; Smooth, soften and retexturizeskin’s appearance; Restore skin’s natural resilience for a firmer look; Fight the visible effects of daytime environmental assaults –lines, wrinkles, discolorations and sun damage; and give skin a rested, restored, more radiant appearance.
Clarins Vital Light Serum - 30ml - $95 - an anti-aging serum that prevents and reduces the appearance of dark spots; minimizes wrinkles, firms the skin and restores deep-down luminosity. As well, it has a smoothing effect and improves skin hydration.
Marcelle Hydra-C 24H Energizing Hydrating Gel - 50ml - $23.95 - refreshing gel has an alcohol-free cooling sensation that intensely moisturizes skin for 24 hours. Protects skin against external stressors thanks to proven antioxidants such as Vitamins C and E as well as green tea. Suitable for all skin types but if you are especially dry, check out Hydra-C Moisturizing Cream 24H + 15 SPF - 50ml - $23.95 - a rich and velvety cream that is designed specifically for dry skin. Enriched with shea butter, canola oil and aloe vera extract as well as a synergistic amino acid complex which rebuilds and compensates for impaired natural moisturizing ability for soft, supple skin.
Pur Minerals Liquid Metal Eye Shadow Sticks - $28 - set of 4 smudge proof, water resistant colours: true cobalt, steel envy, midnight chrome and iced bronze - metallic hues with iridescent shimmer.

I spent quite awhile playing with these and love the soft creamy texture and the light shimmer. I might have to dispute the smudge proof claim though, they wiped off easily for me with a tissue, I did have hand lotion on but they had set long enough that I would have expected something that was supposed to be smudge proof to at least leave some colour behind.
L'Oréal Voluminous False Fiber Lashes - $13.99 - features an innovative formulation offering two different fibers including rayon and nylon to delicately wrap and lengthen each lash for a dramatic lash look. With a 4-dimensional brush that is specifically angled to envelop each lash and control where you put the mascara so that you can achieve a luscious lash look that boasts lots of volume, length and curl in minimum time.
Lise Watier Ampoules Flash Lift Radiance Vials - 7 x 1ml - $28 - contain a concentrate of smoothing agents - silk and wheat germ proteins - and moisturizers - hyaluronic acid and allantoin - for a lifting effect and instant radiance.

Mary Kay Redefining Elegance Nail Polish - Plush Plum, Gold Leaf and Lavish Sable swatches!

My favourite part of the Mary Kay Redefining Elegance fall collection has to be the nail polishes. The colours are so rich and luxurious looking that it makes me feel classy just to wear them!
Plush Plum
Gold Leaf
Lavish Sable

The only thing I don't love is the brush which has a very short handle, I'm used to the standard long ones and am finding the short one harder to control accurately - other than that, these polishes are love!

Mascara Monday - Yves Saint Laurent Volume Effet Faux Cils Shocking!

Yves Saint Laurent Volume Effet Faux Cils Shocking - is my first ever experience with a YSL mascara! The formula is a bit wet but the brush is nice and not super huge like some thickening formulas - when the brush is too big I find it hard to use and more mascara ends up on my skin then my lashes!
Right side has 2 coats, left side is naked. I think I might still have a couple of extensions left over which would be the few odd super long lashes you see.
You may or may not know that I have this thing (obsession) with my lash comb and even though I know you're not supposed to comb out a thickening formula, I couldn't help myself - the left hand eye shows why it's a bad idea - the comb just made them look sad and spiky!

I just don't think I will ever be jumping on the thickening formula bandwagon, I understand that this is what it's supposed to look like but it just seems like such a mess to me!

I'll keep trying, maybe it will grow on me eventually? What do you think?

Penningtons - Styled to Surprise....and win! Contest!

If you were near the Penningtons at the Heartland Town Centre in Mississauga in the past month you might have had a chance to check out the interactive mirror installation that they had going on there - I won't spoil the surprise except to say if you like firemen (and let's face it, who doesn't) than you liked this mirror! If you didn't see it, you can check it out on the Penningtons Facebook page as well as in an upcoming online video and television commercial!

I had a chance to visit the firemen myself and check out what Penningtons has to offer these days and I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised. I have a vague recollection of being in one of their stores a few years back with a friend who was looking for a wedding outfit - we didn't stay long because the clothes all seemed old-ladyish. I can now report from my recent visit that they have upped their game and I saw several pieces that were very fun and on-trend! I was actually quite disappointed that they didn't come in smaller sizes!

Since they didn't, my new friend Franceta was kind enough to model this super cute Quilted Pleather Moto Jacket - $119.99  (and if you're looking for a great style blog you should check her out at www.franticdreams.com)

Of course you shouldn't take my word for it, go check out Penningtons for yourself - better yet, do it with a $150 gift card! Wanna win? Go for it!

This contest is open to all our Canadian followers and it's very easy to enter, just leave a comment letting us know that you follow (if you aren't a follower you can sign up through Google or Facebook - signups are in the right sidebar)

Test driving La Vie en Rose Double Gel Extreme Bra!

The promo for it is so cute that I tried to convince Christelle that this would be the proper way to test drive the bra - she very bitchily declined. You know that if it came in my size I totally would have done it!
La Vie en Rose Double Gel Extreme - $49.95 - in sizes: 32 A-B; 34 A-B-C; 36 A-B-C - it comes in 5 colours: black, white, champagne, purple and grey and is seamless and snag resistant. The triangle at the center actually shifts the angle of the bra cups to maximize extreme cleavage; with lightweight push-up gel padding to create extreme cleavage and add up to 2 cup sizes; and the added bonus of four way convertible straps so you can wear it with any outfit.

So everyone's got a push-up bra these days so I know you want to know what makes this one different - from what I'm hearing, it's the comfort factor but I'll let Christelle tell you since she's the one who actually wore it:

"This bra is simply quite wonderful and almost criminal…because it makes my girls look way bigger, I mean like false-advertising-bigger! The 2 cup sizes bigger advertisement is no joke! What especially makes it great though is that it is so comfy, you don’t feel squeezed or squished so there is no pain like some of the extreme push up bras on the market, you can easily wear this for the entire day. And because there aren’t any mobile inserts you don't have to worry about losing your cleavage by accident!"

Available now in store and online at www.lavieenrose.com
