What Does Zara Have in Store for You? I've Got The Answer in My Purse!

Zara's new looks for Fall are almost around the corner, yet the Spanish label has come out with a few new summer designs. After a caramel and dusty pink color palette (yuck) early this season, floral patterns are making their appearance, inspired by the latest runway shows.

Prices are always a little tricky to find on Zara's website so I downloaded the Zara iPhone app and all the information you need is right at your fingertips: the app includes pictures and prices of all the garments, look books, what's new in store etc... the navigation is not great (it's quite slow) but it's a good shopping companion.

New in stores:

$109

Top - $49.90
Shoes $69.90
Green dress $45.90

Shoes $59.90

You Nailed It! Orly, Avon and Sally Hansen

Warm weather activities can take a toll on nails!  Sun, chlorinated pools and gardening can leave your nails weak and looking crappy.

Orly Sunscreen For Nails UV Protection Topcoat - 18ml - $18 - creates a barrier between your nails and the sunlight. The protector provides protection for every colour under the sun; the advanced U.V. absorbent, high-shine topcoat and bond, protects polish from damaging rays which are responsible for undoing all your hard work - even with how obsessed I am with sunscreen, I never even thought about what it was doing to my nails - great idea!  Orly is available at Sally's, www.cupidandgrace.com and numerous other places!

Avon Nail Experts Mineral Strength - 12ml - $6.99 - formulated with the protection power of oyster shells and Dead Sea salts.  Helps nails appear smoother, healthier and moisturized.  It can be used alone or as a base coat.  Available from your Avon rep 1-800-265-AVON or online at www.avon.ca

Sally Hansen 14 Day Nail Shield - $10.99 - pre-treated, sheer colour strips instantly bond to nails for maximum protection and strength, with a hint of colour for an instant manicure.  Up to 14 days of wear with no chipping and they come in 3 subtle colours.  Contain a pearl protein and natural botanical formula that nourishes nails for up to 14 days.

Mixed Chicks Hair Care Makes The Curly Ladies Bounce Back!

If your hair is a curly mess in the morning, a curly mess in the afternoon... and a curly mess in the evening like me: keep on reading!

It's pretty hard to get my curls to look the way I want so it's the main reason why I straighten them...so I decided to try the Mixed Chicks hair products to see if I could keep my hair natural looking from time to time without looking like a frizz ball. The shampoo  ($11.99/300ml) has a nice scent, it contains avocado oil, borage and panthenol and while it left my hair soft and clean, I was concerned my hair was still too fluffy. Usually, the shampoos I use coat my hair with moisturizing agents and weight it down. Not in that case.

I then conditioned it quickly with the Mixed Chicks deep conditioner ($10.99). Again, my hair didn't feel oily or greasy so I worried I was going to look like a sheep by the end of the day.  I styled it with the leave-in conditioner ($16.99) which acts  as a curl defining formula. I left my hair dry without tying it in a ponytail as I would usually do (to keep the frizz under control). To my surprise, at the end of the day my hair was dry and soft, and most of all, my curls were lovely: well defined and without any frizz! That day was pretty humid so I was pretty impressed!

I think this line is well priced and will really help you maintain a natural hairstyle.  Now you don't have to take my word for it... you can order this trio online in a trial and travel sample pack for $0.99 (it's enough for one use) if you prefer trying it first. MAC and Rodarte Apologize for Juarez-inspired Collection

I'm hoping whoever came up with the Juarez-inspired names for this makeup collection - a collaboration between MAC and the fashion house Rodarte -  has been fired right now... and hopefully sent to Juarez to see if these women, who live in the world's deadliest city, are amused. Juarez women are routinely found dead, beaten, raped in the Mexican desert. What's next? A Holocaust-inspired collection?

MAC and Rodarte issued public statements following the outcry:

M·A·C Cosmetics Statement:
We understand that product names in the M·A·C Rodarte collection have offended some of our consumers and fans. This was never our intent and we are very sorry. We are listening carefully to the comments posted and are grateful to those of you who have brought your concerns to the forefront of our attention. M·A·C will give a portion of the proceeds from the M·A·C Rodarte collection to help those in need in Juarez. We are diligently investigating the best way to do this. Please be assured that we will keep you posted on the details regarding our efforts.

Rodarte Company Statement:
Our makeup collaboration with M·A·C developed from inspirations on a road trip that we took in Texas last year, from El Paso to Marfa. The ethereal nature of this landscape influenced the creative development and desert palette of the collection. We are truly saddened about injustice in Juarez and it is a very important issue to us. The M·A·C collaboration was intended as a celebration of the beauty of the landscape and people in the areas that we traveled.

A Week of (Wacky) Style: Booze Bra, Cockatoo Hair, and Mermaid Skirt...

Oh Jordan! I don't know what's going on with your hair, but you look like a cockatoo! Our beloved British reality TV star (and wannabe pop singer) was wearing this heinous jacket on TV this week while promoting her new single. She wears so much makeup she looks like a man who is trying to look like a woman...if you know what I mean! Bigger is not always better.

This Cuban singer is dressed as a mermaid, or a pirate. I don't know which one. I tell you what I know, though: I'd rather go naked than wear this!

The singer M.I.A wears sports socks, dingy shoes and slashed jeans. The crazy homeless look is in, apparently. Did you not get the memo?

And last but not least: this is what I really really really wanted for my birthday! I was hoping Lisamarie would get me a sweet booze bra! You can carry your drink anywhere you go and it doubles as a type of Wonderbra. This bra is apparently popular with the college students on the East Coast of the US. Hmm, I wonder why...

Prepare to be amazed (and horrified) by in20years.com

Ever wondered what you will look like 20 years from now?  It's the stuff my nightmares are made of let me tell you!  In honour of Christelle's birthday, I thought this would be a fun site to promote - I really, really wanted to do Christelle's picture for you but I am too scared - she would KILL me!  Instead check out my favourite piece of eye candy Taylor Lautner!

Luckily I don't have a clear enough headshot of myself on my computer so I didn't have to suffer through it but I know curiosity is going to make me unable to stop myself from trying it out.  The process is simple, upload a clear front view of your face and the program does all the rest!  Go to www.in20years.com and make sure you are sitting down!
