Mascara Monday - Sephora Upside Down Mascara

Sephora Upside Down Mascara - $26 - an innovative double-brush mascara that enables you to create volume, length, curl, and definition. For ultimate volume, use the open wand by placing lashes between the upper and lower mascara brush to coat each lash with 360° of volumizing pigment. To achieve a wide eyed, long lash look, use the dual brush closed for maximized delivery. Create defined lower lashes with the closed mascara brush. Or use all three techniques together for a maximized lash effect.

Available at Sephora and sephora.ca.
I'm a big fan of gadget-y type beauty products, I don't know why because most of the time they end up being disappinting but I always have hope that this time will be different (I know, the definition of insanity) - and sadly I can't say that this product is the exception to this experience...

The right eye results were from using the brush closed, like you would a normal mascara want and as you can see, it gave nice results, a little too clumpy for my taste and I think that's because when you withdraw the wand from the tube there isn't any decent wiping action happening inside the tube so the brush comes out with too much mascara on it - I really should have wiped some of it off on a kleenex first but then of course you end up with little kleenex fibres on your lashes...

The left eye is with the open wand method which turned into a giant mess - I had mascara all over my skin, jabbed myself in the eye several times trying to master the technique and ended up with a result that is way to spidery for my taste!
Clumpy, messy and disappointing - at least for me - I have seen pictures of people who achieved nice looking results with this mascara - it's obviously just not meant for the spastic!

  1. I've seen this product on their website and I have been really intrigued by it. I never dared to purchase it because I was terrified I would poke my eye out. I think I might pass on this...sounds like you almost poked your own eye out.

    1. Luckily I have two of them (eyes) but it's certainly not for the faint of heart!
