Fragrant Friday - Guerlain Mon Guerlain

Guerlain Mon Guerlain - 30ml EDP - $78, 50ml EDP - $119, 100ml EDP - $168, 200ml Perfumed Body Lotion - $62, 200ml Perfumed Shower Gel - $55 - a fresh oriental fragrance that enhances exceptional raw materials: Carla Lavender from Provence, Sambac Jasmine from India, Santalum Album Sandalwood from Australia and Vanilla Tahitensis from Papua New Guinea.

While it's not technically considered a gourmand fragrance the combination of the vanilla and sandalwood turn into a kind of caramel candy scent on me so I'm a fan!

The scent has a glamour to it that speaks for itself but to make it even more elegant, it comes in the iconic Guerlain quadrilobe bottle - understated, simple and graphic - the perfect home for a scent that pays homage to contemporary femininity.

Mon Guerlain was created for an extraordinary, sincere and authentic woman - and as Jacques Guerlain has said - "We create perfumes for women we admire." - in this case it is Angelina Jolie, who was chosen as the face of the new perfume. Angelina actually already had an emotional attachment to the Guerlain brand originating with the memory of her own mother's love for a Guerlain powder, scented with iris and violet, that her mother kept among her treasured possessions.

I was very fortunate to get a chance to sit down and have a quick chat with Guerlain Exclusive Perfumer, Thierry Wasser, the creator of many great fragrances including Mon Guerlain and my particular favourite, La Petite Robe Noir Eau Fraiche. What he told me which was very interesting to me was he actually goes to all of the places where the raw ingredients for his fragrances come from - be it India for the Sambac jasmine or Papua New Guinea for the Tahitensis vanilla and personally meets with the people who grow, pick, extract and distill the ingredients to build relationships and make sure he knows every detail of the ingredients!

Things that make M. Wasser sad: vanilla coke, not celebrating important anniversaries and when I have to leave.

Things that make him happy include good coffee, a great collaboration and the thought of creating a fragrance inspired by me... Mon Lisamarie has a really nice ring, non?
