If there's one thing we need during these hot sticky days is mascara that won't go sliding down our faces when the temperature rises which means a waterproof formula is in order! My picks:

Mascara Monday - Pupa Vamp! Waterproof Mascara

Pupa Vamp! Waterproof Mascara - $22 - with a paraben and alcohol free formula that offers soft and flexible lashes with extreme hold.

Offers a spectacular as false lash look without the bother of having to apply or wear them. It takes about 3-4 coats for the volume to get excessively oversize, for thick, full and ultra dense lashes.

It's an all day long lasting formula that won't smear or smudge when in direct contact with water or even in sticky hot, humid heat - you can even sleep in it (not recommended) which is what I inadvertently had to do and thus discovered the downside to all that unmoveable wonderfulness which is - you aren't budging it without an oil based remover - so if you happen to be out of town without the right product to get it off, you're sleeping in it sister!

The formula is also supposed to be clump free but when piling on enough layers to get a false lash effect, there is a bit of clumping as you can see - but I still can't argue with the effect!

Mascara Monday - my three fave waterproof mascaras from It Cosmetics, Marcelle and Pür Minerals!

'Tis the season for waterproof mascara - between the heat, humidity and rain some element is always trying to find a way to melt the mascara right off my face - which makes waterproof mascara the best thing ever! Here are the three waterproof mascaras in my makeup bag right now - looking at them I realize that there is a common theme in that they all have small brushes - so if you are a small brush lover too then check out:

It Cosmetics Tightline Waterproof Full Lash Length Black Primer Mascara - $24 - a waterproof mascara with a built-in primer and lash enhancing serum containing proteins, biotin, collagen, olive, jojoba, avocado and peptides. You can see the full review and pictures here.

Marcelle Waterproofing Mascara Topcoat - $16.95 - a transparent, water-resistant, paraben free topcoat for mascara that goes on weightless and easily to leave lashes feeling light, supple and ready to take on the wettest and hottest of mascara meltdowns! Perfect for the days that start off chilly so you think you won't need the waterproof mascara but by lunch the city has turned into an oven - just slap a coat of the topcoat on to prevent the mascara from melting off your face! Mascara Monday - Clarins Truly Waterproof Mascara

Clarins Truly Waterproof Mascara - $27 - in intense black and curacao blue - offers a double volumizing & lengthening effect, intense colour and 12-hour non-stop waterproof hold.

It has a wet formula so it was a little messy to apply for me - I'm a blinker - and you can see it is a little clumpy, a lash comb would have been in order. It does have great staying power though, it made it through a hot, humid day and a nap without budging!

You'll need a good makeup remover and a bit of effort to budge it!

Pür Minerals Waterproof Big Look Mascara - $23 - takes your lashes to the extreme rain or shine with all-day definition and extreme water resistance.

With a clump-resistant wand that has a great textured handle that makes it easy to grip...

and waterproof formula containing nourishing argan oil - loaded with vitamin E, antioxidants and omega 3 and 9 fatty acids to hydrate, protect and repair lashes from visible damage and moisture loss.

As you can see here, the wand isn't quite as clump-resistant as claimed - but they do live up to the waterproof bit - after applying I went to see The Fault In Our Stars, cried like a baby and the mascara didn't budge!

Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge #17 & #19 - with swatches!

The Make Up For Ever Aqua Summer collection is full of all kinds of waterproof products that won't melt in the summer heat including some vibrant shades of Aqua Rouge!

#17 Bright Coral - I probably would call this shade more full on orange then coral but you can't deny that it's bright and beautiful!

#19 Pomegranate Pink - this is after wearing it for a full day including lunch - I did touch it up with a bit of top coat after eating but didn't redo the colour - as you can see a bit of the colour wore away in the middle but overall it has impressive lasting power!

With the warmer (rainy) weather here, I really do prefer a waterproof mascara but find many of the mascaras I like don't have a waterproof option - or else the waterproof only comes in black while I prefer a black/brown mascara. Problem solved with:
