Jacob is a new destination for denim this spring!

Jacob has probably never been your go-to store for denim but they aim to change that this spring by stocking the season's trendiest denim items.  Since all I ever wear is jeans I'm happy to hear that I can continue wearing them AND call myself trendy this spring!

Jegging - $39 - half jean, half legging - I'm intrigued.  I like leggings but they sometimes make me feel a little bit naked so I think I will enjoy leggings in a denim for a less exposed feeling!  They come in a dark wash or black

Boyfriend Jeans - $58 - available in several versions ranging from lightly faded to deliberately worn these are a nice alternative to the skinny jean.  I especially like that they are meant to be rolled up at the bottom which means my short self can save some money on hemming!

Slim Leg Jeans with Zipper - $68 - these would be great to wear with high boots, that zipper would keep the material from getting all bunchy under your boots!

Denim Shirt - $48 - I cannot believe these are back!  Do not make the unfortunate mistake that we made in the 80's of wearing denim shirts with the same coloured denim jeans - not a good look in retrospect!  But with a pair of black lettings or a flirty little skirt this would be adorable!

Denim Jacket - $68 - Again, no denim with denim please!  Slap a Metallica patch on the back and you can be me in high school!

Mary Kay's Bundle Shuts Shine Down.

You may know by now about my obsession with shiny foreheads, so it's no wonder I was particularly interested in trying out Mary Kay's Shine Shutdown Bundle.
The Shine Shutdown Bundle ($55 until March 15th) includes:
- An Oil-Free Hydrating Gel to restore skin’s moisture balance and hydrate. This hydrating gel does a pretty good job with moisturizing your skin and controlling the shine. It also gets absorbed quickly. It does not leave a greasy film nor does it leave your skin feeling tight. As far as hydrating gels go, this is really good value for money.Keep in mind that there is no SPF protection in this product, so you will need to apply that separately.

- An Oil Mattifier for shine control in the T-zone: you can use  this mattifier to correct some particularly oily spots. Again, it does a good job keeping that shine in check and it's a great base under your make up. My skin feels smooth and balanced.

- Beauty Blotters® Oil-Absorbing Tissues to instantly absorb excess oil are great to use throughout the day. While the hydrating gel and the mattifier give you a good base to start the day, by the end of a busy day my skin feels oily again. These tissues absorb oil even when my skin doesn't look shiny. A must-have for your purse.

All in all, I was pretty happy with this bundle. It doesn't look super fancy, but it does the job for a reasonable price. My skin feels smooth and balanced and that's all I need. Despite the fact, that Mary Kay's products are not available in stores, I've had great experiences with Mary Kay's beauty consultants. A good consultant will take the time to have you try their products. To find a Mary Kay's beauty consultant, check here.

Ugly and Uglier: Pussycat Doll vs. British Pop Tarts. Who Will Prevail?

This week's events have blessed us with a multitude of fashion disasters. The peak of this wave  probably being the penis pants. Nevertheless, our pop tarts are all vying for the worst-dressed crown. In one corner, we've got a Pussycat Doll with crazy see-through white pants and ripped fishnets in a classy red carpet split. In the second corner, my favorite British pop tarts display see-through, cut-out, microscopic dresses.

That Pussycat Doll is pure class.

VS.

Kelly Osbourne thinks she's a Flinstones.

Nicola from the British Band Girls Aloud loves fashion, but this dress is a bit too much for me, sorry love.

Frankie from the Saturdays wears toilet paper, disguised as a dress.

Unknown Pop Tart at the Brits Awards. Her undies match her shoes. That's what I call sophistication!

I think Team Pop Tarts wins this fight. Their shear number overwhelmed Team Pussycat Doll.

Orange is where it's at for spring - Make Up For Ever, MAC, Chanel and Vasanti Cosmetics

By now we've all heard that orange is THE colour for spring makeup.  I don't know how you feel about orange, it can be a hard colour to wear.  If you are skeptical about orange you can always consider peach, apricot or coral instead - still in the orange family but not quite as shocking.  I've been keeping an eye out and wondering which lines actually carry a true orange and it seems that Make Up For Ever is your best bet if you want real orange - I've also given you some of the variations:

Make Up For Ever - Glossy Full Couleur - #2 - $22 - super shiny, super orange - if it's the true orange look you are after you will be wanting one of these!  Available at Sephora and selected Shoppers Drug Marts.

MAC - Lipglass - Ember Glow - creamy light apricot - $16.50 - from the Spring Colour 2 Forecast

Make Up For Ever - Lipstick - #201 - $19 - packs a real orange colour wallop!  Also makes a nice stain if a full lipstick is too intense.  Swipe it on then blot most of the colour off - very spring!

Chanel Rouge Allure - Génial - a coral-orange shade from the Chanel summer collection - you can see it on the couture collection models here.

Make Up For Ever - Eye Shadow #18 - $22 - use it at the corners on your eyes for a little drama or all over the lid for a lot!

MAC - Eye Shadow - Hot Hot Hot - mid tone coral - $17.50 from the Spring Colour 2 Forecast.

Vasanti Cosmetics - Rockies Blush - Coral Peach with subtle gold and silver highlights - $15 - the shimmer in this one is beautiful and the colour gives you a perfect coral flush!

MAC  - Blush Ombre - Ripe Peach - light coral - $30 - also from the Spring Colour 2 Forecast.

So what do we think about orange - are you planning on making it part of your spring look?

The Junk is Out at the Madrid Fashion Week: Penis Pants are in!

Rejoice ladies! I found the perfect present for your dream man. The Spanish designer Isabel Mastache presented the most amazing pants - possibly in the entire human history! - at the Madrid Fashion Week today. They will look absolutely fantastic with your Sharon Cardigan (also known as the penis sweater)! The expression "junk in the trunk" has truly been redefined today. And after thousands of years of evolution, we have come full circle. We are now devolving. The end is near. These pants prove it.

Note: It's not even that original as this old illustration shows. Check here to see what I mean.

Sex Sells...Diesel Jeans.

My good old favorite Diesel is at it again! Another day, another wacky ad campaign...there is nothing like half naked young people to sell ANYTHING.

Aldo has proud feet at the Olympic Games!

During the 2010 Olympic Victory Ceremonies, the young women handing out the Olympic medals and escorting winning athletes will be wearing Aldo boots, specially requested and designed for the Olympics by Vancouver clothing brand Aritzia.  If I had known that boots were part of the deal, I would have applied for the job!

And if the Vancouver Olympics are all about showing the world our culture and history, I think footwear is a darned good way to show it off!

I know Christelle will complain that there's no heel but I love a tall flat boot!

These ones remind me of Mountie boots!
I'm sad to tell you that you won't be able to go out and get yourself a pair, these are dressing the Olympic people's feet only - but we can still look, and drool!
