Lise Watier Youthful... Day After Day Challenge - Day 24! Contest!

Day 24 - BE BOLD - Dare to wear red!
Go on, let yourself wear red.  Select a red lipstick and let your lips be the star of the day!

Funny story, I didn't even read today's challenge until I got to work and I had already put on a bright red top and matching lipstick this morning!  Even my boss noticed and commented that I never wear red lipstick...

Mary Kay makes my hands happy!

My obsession with hand cream continues and this time Mary Kay is my enabler with their Fragrance-Free Satin Hands Pampering Set - $51.  Imagine my delight at a whole SET for my dainty little hands!  Here's what you get:
Satin Hands Softener - 60g, Satin Smoothie Hand Scrub - 220g and Satin Hands Hand Cream - 85g all in a cute reusable bag.

Here's how it works:
You squeeze a small amount of the Hand Softener into your palm and rub it in.  This helps maintain the natural moisture in the skin and replenishes dry areas.
Next, cleanse and exfoliate with one pump of Satin Smoothie Hand Scrub and warm water.
Dry your hands thoroughly and apply a small amount of the Hand Cream for instant moisturization.

I must admit I found the instructions a little confusing and couldn't understand why I was softening and then scrubbing my hands but I'm a crazy risk taker and decided to just go with it!  I still don't necessarily understand why, but I definitely liked the results - I am guessing that by softening the skin first, it makes it easier for the scrub to get rid of all the dry flaky bits.  And I really like the texture of the scrub, there are no sharp pieces, it contains peach and apricot seed powder to exfoliate.  Best of all, the Hand Cream was absolutely not greasy, soaked in quickly and lasted through a bunch of hand washings before I had to reapply.  It's main moisturizing ingredient is sesame seed oil.

Now Christelle and I were arguing about how convenient Mary Kay really is or isn't - and I maintain that for busy people, Mary Kay is a godsend.  Consider it, you are a stay at home mom or maybe an agoraphobic, you don't have time to (or can't) go running around town tracking down the perfect beauty item.  How awesome is it that someone will come to you, find out what you need and get it for you!  It's like having your very own magic shopping fairy!  You can locate your very own magic shopping fairy (Independent Beauty Consultant) Locator at www.marykay.ca or call 1-866-455-5454.

As usual, you can count on Youtube to prove any point you want, suck on this Christelle!

Lise Watier Youthful... Day After Day Challenge - Day 23! Contest!

Day 23 - PHYSICAL HEALTH - Release neck tension!
Keeping your shoulders straight, gently turn your head to the right as far as you can and hold this position for a few seconds.  Repeat the movement to the left.  repeat these movements until the tension in your neck dissipates.
When I saw today was physical health again, I was scared of what those sadists at Lise Watier had dreamed up this time but this one was a pleasant surprise and very effective!  Go ahead, it's safe!

Now You Can Really Kiss My Feet! 2 Foot Scrubs to Make You Feel like the Princess you're not.

Have you ever cut somebody...I mean cut somebody with your feet, because your skin was so dry and scaly? Well, I have. Since I can't get a natural foot scrub by walking on sandy beaches,  I need to stick to a weekly routine. Here are two scrubs I've tried:

Barefoot Venus - Sole Scrubber - Smoothing Pumice Scrub for Feet & Legs
8 oz/226g
- $18.99 - Made in Canada
No sandy beach around? No Problem! The natural pumice granules in this sole scrubber will help you get rid of dry patches on your feet and heels. It contains sweet orange, lime and wintergreen, and while the scent does nothing for me, this scrub works well. It's compact and easy to rinse off. Finally, the olive oil helps softening and soothing your dry skin.

Another natural alternative:

North American Hemp Co. Hemp Husk Foot Scrub, 242ml - $9.99 - available from Rexall Pharma Plus and well.ca in Canada and Duane Reade and Amazon.com in the US.

I tried to explain to Lisamarie: hemp can be used in many ways....including in foot scrubs like this one. This product is creamier than the previous one. The hemp seed husks help removing calluses while hemp oil and shea butter moisturize your nice little feet. I like the mint scent of this one, it's relaxing. However this scrub is less heavy duty than the previous one. Oh, and it's made in Canada too!

I like using both - I think they complement each other - I start with the hemp husk foot scrub and finish off with the sole scrubber for problem areas.

Jacob loosens up for Spring!

Jacob tells me that pegged trousers are the thing for this spring and I am somewhat horrified.  I was hoping that what I was thinking was a pegged trouser was different then Jacob's definition of one, but sadly this was not to be.  Jacob describes them as "looser at the thighs with a tapered leg, often with a cuffed hem to reveal the ankle, you could say it's a close cousin of the harem pant or the pant version of boyfriend jeans".  I'm okay with the pant version of boyfriend jeans but the words "harem pant" make me want to run screaming into the night - close cousin or not, that is one relative that needs to get cut off the Christmas card list!  I'm afraid I'm going to have to give this trend a miss.  But if you are super tall, have long skinny legs or think MC Hammer is da bomb, then by all means, give this trend a try.  I really will go in and try a pair on the next time I am by a Jacob's - but having lived through the tapered trend in the 80's, when I did have skinny enough legs to pull it off, I have a good idea what this trend will look like on me now!  Just remember, you will want to go skinny on top to offset the volume of the pants - luckily Jacob has given us some adorable tanks that will do just that!

In order:  Sateen Pegged Pant - $79, Career Pegged Pant - $89, Pleated Knit Pegged Pant - $49

Ruffled Tank - $28 - this is too cute, I love the colour too!

Draped Top - $48 - also adorable and I suspect that draping would be very forgiving to bulges.

Short Sleeveless Blazer - $129- such a nice layering piece!

Fold-Over Studded Bag - $48 - I love this bag enough to forgive Jacob for any other transgressions!

Murale and Estée Lauder team up to give you a gorgeous online presence!

If you have a Facebook profile picture that makes you cringe, have I got some great news for you!  Gone are the days of having to use that 10 year old photo from Aunt Bertha's wedding where you are wearing a vile yellow taffeta bridesmaids dress just because it's the only picture you have of yourself where you aren't totally trashed (yes, I'm talking to you Christelle) or sporting that weird serial killer smile that you are prone to when being photographed.

With the ever-expanding world of online social networking, Murale wants to help everyone put their best face forward. Having an active online presence, whether socially or professionally, through websites like Facebook or LinkedIn, requires a great photo to best represent you.  Teaming up with Estée Lauder, Murale is set to host a series of Your Beauty Your Style Your Profile in-store events at select locations across Canada, creating fabulous professional photos, from the makeup to the pose.

Using simple tips and tricks from beauty experts, savvy social networking users will be able to achieve personalized looks to suit individual style, with photos tailored to suit the social networking outlet. Working one on one with top makeup artists, a  flawless look can be achieved, while professional photographers will select the perfect pose and light for the photo.

With an elevated level of expertise and skill, Murale Beauty Masters and Estée Lauder Beauty Advisors will begin each appointment with a skincare consultation, ensuring skin is properly prepared with a great base. Next, you will receive complimentary application and techniques for how to achieve top photo looks at home. Following the skincare and makeup application, you will continue the star treatment, heading over to the photo shoot set where profile pictures will be taken by a professional photographer. Once the process is complete, you will receive a hard copy of the photo, which will also be emailed for instant use on social network profiles.
