Get easy and elegant holiday hair thanks to Robert Barbosa!

With the holiday season comes an endless parade of holiday parties!  If you're like me, you never can figure out what to do with your hair that will be easy, yet still festive!

Robert Barbosa, co-owner of Salon Escape and Contessa 2010 Hairstylist of the Year recipient created these simple, yet glamorous styles for Toronto Fashion Week that are also perfect to party the night away in!

Barrettes have gone high fashion!  "You can take this look as far as you dare," says Robert.  "Two or three barrettes make a statement, but five write a whole book!"  Obviously, the longer your hair the better for this bold style.  It's super easy:

1. Apply straightening balm to wet hair, blow dry and flat iron.
2. Apply a generous dose of shine serum, a squeeze more than you would typically use.
3. Pick your favourite barrettes and put them wherever you please!  Make it really festive and use a couple that sparkle!

Every fashionista knows about the no fuss or muss chignon for low maintenance elegance but you'll want to punch it up for an elegant holiday party.  "The effect of the cord in this look is so unique and beautiful," says Robert, "all eyes will be focused on you."  To do:
1. Pull all of your hair into a loose ponytail.
2. Twist the ponytail, holding it firmly near the base of your neck.
3. Tie a piece of string or cord around the base of the ponytail.  Add some holiday pizazz by using gold or silver string or cord that has a little sparkle.
4. Wrap the piece of string or cord around the ponytail, tying it off on the end.
5. Make a chignon by coiling the ponytail around itself. Secure the chignon with pins.
This messy chignon is my favourite and will go perfectly with a LBD! Robert likes this look because it has edge but it's still relaxed, not overdone or overstyled.  To get it:
1. Pull all of your hair into a tight ponytail.
2. Twist the ponytail, holding it firmly near the base of your neck.
3. Make a chignon by coiling the ponytail around itself. Keep it loose though.
4. Instead of tucking the ends of the hair underneath the chignon, pull them out to one side.
5. Secrue the chignon by inserting pins loosely throughout.

All you need now is a glass of champagne and you are ready to hit the holiday party circuit in any of these!
