Mascara Monday - CoverGirl Lash Blast 24HR

CoverGirl Lash Blast 24HR - $11.99 - has a huge brush, in fact the biggest brush that CoverGirl has ever had and promises lush, volumized lashes that last up to 24 hours. With a Lash Attract Formula - a blend of volumizing charged structurants plus pigments and waxes enveloped in lash bonding resins that are resistant to the main threats to lasting lash beauty:

What interested me most was that the resins are supposed to be resistant to the skin's natural oils - which really is my biggest issue with mascaras, even waterproof ones. As the day goes on, my eye area becomes oily and acts as a natural makeup remover which means my liner smears, eyeshadow disappears and my mascara will start to smudge and flake. This is the first mascara I've ever seen that specifically addresses this issue and I'm happy to report that it absolutely worked - after a full day my mascara was only where it was supposed to be - my lashes. Just keep in mind that you have to use an oil based remover to get it off, even though it's not waterproof.
The brush is so huge that I was expecting a lumpy, clumpy mess but it actually went on very smooth and clump-free! The right is naked of course in th
I know some people love the huge brush but I'm just not a fan, I always end up bumping my lids with it and have to clean up the mess after and I don't even bother trying to get the bottom lashes, that just ends up being a disaster!
I am very taken with the formula though - if you have oily lids/eyes too, you will want to give it a try - this is my eye at the end of the day, as you can see there is no mascara on my lid at all and normally by this time of day, I would have globs of it all over! If I could have this formula with a smaller brush, that would be heaven!

The only real negative I have for this mascara is the tube, it's slippery as hell! Get a good grip on the wand when applying or it will go flying out of your hand! My husband actually roughed up the outside for me with a piece of sandpaper - I'm such a spaz that there was no way I could keep hold of it - if CoverGirl is reading this, some tube texture would be very helpful for those less co-ordinated ones amongst us (no insult intended I mean me)!

  2. I actually really like a large brush, but I hate having to use oil based make up removers, such a pain!

  3. I have the same issue with mascara, so this is definitely intriguing. The brush looks workable, though sometimes these wands get too big. LOL

    Great review, thanks. :]

  5. Ever since Urban Decay stopped selling the Waterproof Big Fatty mascara, I've been looking for a replacement... how would you compare this one to the Urban Decay, if you tried the UD one?

  6. I never tried the UD - I usually avoid mascara's with the big brushes - I make a total mess with them!

    Best, Lisamarie
