Now that Leighton is Herbal Essences' Hair Ambassador she gets to avail herself of the celebrity stylist for Herbal Essences - Charles Baker Strahan - to beautify her locks. This didn't seem fair to me so I tried to convince Herbal Essences to send Charles to all of our reader's houses to personally tousle their hair but Herbal Essences is being very unreasonable about it like it's a lot of trouble for Charles to visit thousands of people or something.... So we compromised and got Charles to give us the inside scoop on how normal people, without a celebrity stylist, can get this look themselves at home. As well, he answered a few other hair related questions - however, he would not divulge any juicy gossip or ask Leighton to get me Chuck's phone number! Here's how to get Leighton's tousled do:
To get
a good base to set this style, use Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly
Mousse, which helps build in support to make sure that hair has all the strength
it needs to hold the wave. Then diffuse your hair from side to side
just to build up that extra body. Then, wrap pieces of hair around a curling
iron to integrate those different textures together. Finish the look with
the Tousle Me Softly Hair Spray just to make sure that you have a lasting hold
that is also soft, touchable and very natural looking.
I was also curious to know what sort of look and products he would recommend for an easy summer look - say you were on vacation and didn't have access to your usual appliances:
He recommended soft,
loose and messy braids which can also be used to create movement for a tousled
look. To achieve this, start by adding some texture to the hair by applying
Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Spray Gel. Then take pieces of your hair from
the back and begin twisting while forming it into a loose braid. Mess it up a
bit by exposing some of the pieces. Once you are halfway through the braid, pull
it around the side of your head and tie together with an
elastic. Finish with Herbal Essences Set Me Up Maximum Hold Hair Spray.
We also discussed the direction he saw hair going and he agreed that the soft, loose trend is going to be sticking around for awhile and that he sees variety and the ability to change your look on a daily basis as a trend coming up for fall. He likes well-maintained long and healthy hair however he also sees the return of short hair. He also thinks it's time to dump your extensions and get yourself a fresh cut!
Keep an ear for your doorbell though, I'm still working on getting Charles to your house!
