Clinique Even Better Clinical - Dark Spot Corrector - Review

The tone of your skin is one thing that can make you look older then you are - I'm not talking colour, I mean age spots, dark spots, sun damage etc.  Having a uniform and radiant complexion makes you look so much younger!  Clinique Even Better Clinical - Dark Spot Corrector - 30ml - $63 - offers prescription strength effectiveness for evening skin tone in a new treatment serum.  Its big difference is that it is gentle and non-irritating and ideal for skins that cannot tolerate other skin brightening treatments.  Clinical tests verified a 53% improvement in skin tone after using it for 12 weeks.

The science:  A patent-pending CL-302 complex which features a new plant-derived technology that is clinically proven to significantly improve evenness of skin tone, radiance and clarity.  It consists of five synergistic brightening ingredients, including:  A rare botanical extract originally derived from Dianella Ensifolia (Border Silver), which originates in Southeast Asia, helps dramatically reduce and prevent the appearance of uneven, pigmented skin as well as help protect skin against free radical damage; Glucosamine and Salicylic Acid provide exfoliating benefits to help normalize cell turnover and assist the departure of surface pigmented skin cells for renewed clarity and brighter skin; A potent Vitamin C derivative, Ascorbyl Glucoside, helps reduce the appearance of dark spots; and Blackout Yeast Extract which provides effective brightening results by visibly breaking up large clusters of pigment at the skin's surface into microscopic particles that are diffused throughout the skin, helping to diminish the appearance of uneven skin tone.  Additional powerful ingredients include:  Trametes Versicolor Extract, a cunique concentrated mushroom extract, Curcuma Longa Turmeric Root Extract and Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, powerful antioxidants and Glycyrrhetinic Acid, an anti-irritant.

Which all sounds wonderful and scientific, but I wanted to know how well it worked and of course the only way to do that was be a guinea pig - so 12 weeks ago I started using it every day under my daytime moisturizer.  They do recommend using it twice a day and I'm sure my results would have been much quicker but once a day was all I could commit to. I also figured that since I didn't have any dark spots on my face but I do on the backs of my hands that I would use it there too and really give it a run for it's money!  Within a week my face looked noticeably brighter, my skin was soft and I had experienced no irritation or breakouts from the serum.  In 6 weeks, the dark spots on my hands had faded.  Week 7 I realized that while I am religious about using sunscreen on my face, I should be putting it on the backs of my hands too because the spots had darkened again.  Week 12 the spots have lightened down considerably, if I had used the serum twice a day, I suspect they would be almost invisible.  My face really does look brighter and more radiant so overall, I am very impressed!  As I learned, and this is true for any lightening product, you are wasting your money if you don't wear a sunscreen on top of whatever area you are treating - it takes weeks to get rid of the spots and only days for them to come back again if you forget!

Worth buying?  If you have skin discolourations, freckles, age spots or lack of radiance this product is definitely worth taking a look at!  And if it's Clinique Bonus Time, even better!
