Smashbox Photo Finish Face Primer Light - good product, crap packaging

You might recall me mentioning about a month ago here that I had just cracked open a new bottle of face primer - Smashbox photo finish light to be exact.  I experienced the joy and excitement that always comes with a brand new, untried beauty product.  Might this be "the one"?!  The one product that will make my life magically complete and perfect.  That will end world hunger, stop my hair from getting frizzy when it rains and prevent global warming, you know all the important issues... or really at the very least, smooth out my skin and keep my foundation is place for more than a few hours - see?  I don't ask for much.  And things seemed to be going well - the texture was a little slicker feeling then I would have expected from an oil free product, but no matter, it absorbed quickly and left a nice smooth, silky finish.  My makeup stayed and all was well in the kingdom of Lisamarie.

Until yesterday morning when the sun stopped shining and the birds all fell silent... nothing would come out of the damn pump - I pumped, I opened the bottle and stirred the contents around and pumped some more, I shook the bottle and pumped some more and nothing doing - the primer refused to pump out.  Low on time I ended up opening it and using a q-tip to scoop some out, but let me tell you, I was not pleased.  This morning, and following the true definition of insanity by doing the same thing and expecting different results - I went through the same Smashbox primer dance with the same results, or lack thereof.

Let me tell you, I am NOT happy.  I recall from my last bottle of the original Smashbox primer that I had this same problem, but it didn't actually occur until the bottle was almost empty and it was one of the old glass bottles so I had hoped this design flaw had been corrected.  This bottle is barely used, the level on the bottle shows close to full so there is no excuse for this.  Needless to say, this is going back to the store.  At $44, I don't expect to have to mess around with a q-tip everyday to get at my primer!  And I can't decide if I am annoyed enough to forego the Smashbox altogether and move on to something else or not... Opinions?

  2. do a google search of smashbox primer vs. monistat chafing gel.

a lot of ppl have claimed that the monistat chafing gel works well as a primer, very similar to smashbox primer in feel as well as application.
and at a CHEAP price. you're looking at 8-10 dollars for a tube.

  3. You learn something new everyday! It's fragrance free but I don't see anything about oil free, I'll have to go have a look at the bottle next time I'm at Shoppers. Thanks Cheryl!

    Best, Lisamarie
