Ugly shoes make baby jesus cry

Spending the evening with beautiful shoes makes me loath ugly shoes even more. So here is my list of shoes I hate.  And before even posting I can hear your comments now - but they're so comfortable, Lisamarie!  So is a cute little pair of ballet flats! Comfort does not have to equal ugly!  Now I understand that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, after all even Gene Simmons has a hot girlfriend so this is totally my opinion.  We'll just have to see how many people agree or disagree with my choices...
1.  Uggs - really that should be self evident by the name, even the designer knows they're horrible.  Any boot that you are supposed to wear without socks so it becomes all stinky and gross inside is repulsive to me on principle and the next girl I see wearing these with a nice dress is going to get a smack from me.

2. Crocs - wear them to garden if you must, I will even allow them as shower shoes at the gym but that's it people!  I never saw so many Crocs in one place as I did when we went to Disney, and believe me, mouse ears do not make them any more attractive!

3. Merrells - I had never even heard of these before (thankfully) until my boss walked into work wearing a pair.  I thought she had worn her slippers to work by mistake.  Rule #1 - if your footwear can be mistaken for slippers, do not wear them in public.

4. Tevas - I don't discriminate when it comes to these, they are awful on everyone, man woman and child.  I won't even get into how I feel having to look at man toes in any sandals but these rank #1 on the hideous sandal scale.  Camping maybe is the only place these disgusting shoes should be allowed to go.

Don't despair if your favourite shoes are on my list, it is never too late to see the light.  Ballet flats anyone?

  1. I tried on a pair of Uggs last winter because I'm in desperate need of new winter boots. I couldn't believe how much more ridiculous they look when you see them on your own feet, compared to seeing them on someone else.

And don't forget the Crocs that are supposed to look like ballet flats. I also tried on a pair of those and it felt like suction cups on my feet.

  2. Poor poor Papaya. I hope you have learned your lesson. Don't even go anywhere near these horrid shoes, they will make your stomach turn. I know they do that to mine.

  3. For fear of looking like a 19 year old university student who demands my mother spend her hard earned money on uggs so I can look exactly like everyone else, I don't own a pair. They remind me of smoking. You only do it to look cool, but really it just makes you look stupid.

  4. Crocs are supposed to look like ballet flats?! Man, did the designer ever fail on that one!

    Best, Lisamarie

  5. I have to confess that I upgraded from Crocs to Dawgs for work but I do really love Merrell - sure, ballet flats look great but after a few days in flat shoes the pain from my plantar fasciatis kicks in. I am unable to wear flat shoes, and I've come to terms with that. I can still wear rocking heels, so I take comfort in that!
