My Six Picks - Canadian beauty brands that you may not know about and I think you should!

This is a guest post that appeared on my friend Cindy's blog - www.primebeautyblog.net a few days ago and it occurred to me that not all of my readers are Canadian and really need to know about these brands too.  Those of you who stop by often have probably already heard me natter on about these brands incessantly, for everyone else, this is for you.

Dermaglow is a skin care line with a multitude of products to address almost any skin type or issue you might have - sensitive, aging, moisture, radiance or correction, they have a line for it!

I'm obsessed with their Advanced Cellulite Therapy (pictured), Triple Action Eye Lift Eye Roller, and their 70 SPF Cream High Protection and I just got word that they've come out with a 70 SPF Body Mist, which I sense will make me just as happy!

You can go here to see where to buy, there are several online retailers including Well.ca who do ship to the States.

AG Hair Cosmetics - hair products don't get any more awesome than this Vancouver, BC based company.  While they are definitely not an unknown as they are already a celebrity fave and have supplied gift bag swag to the Oscars for the past two years, they might not be as well known as some of the other big hair care lines.  You should introduce yourself to them!

They have a magazine that comes out every couple of months with company and product news that you can check out here as well as a "Ask an Expert" form for all your hair queries.

I'm not the only one who loves their Split End Spa Repair Serum (pictured) it won the Elle Grand Prix Beauty Award this year!  Other loves of mine:  their fastFWD dry shampoo, bigwigg volumizer spray and liquid varnish smoothing polish.

It's sold right across North America, you can go here to find your closest one.

Lise Watier Cosmétiques is a Quebec based line with a full array of cosmetic and skin care items. They have cleverly put ages to their various skin care lines to make it less confusing for less informed to figure out which one they should be using and their prices are very reasonable.  They do seasonal cosmetic lines with really cool packaging and I love their line of loose mineral eye shadow powders - Couleur Folle - they have the most shiny and vibrant colours and a very clever product called Métramorfix that turns those loose powders into liquid liners.  Or if you don't want to do that much work they have a great pencil metallic eyeliner called Eye Shine that comes in a bunch of great colours

My favourite products from Lise Watier: Résist-Age Youth Extender Day Fluid, Hydra Shine Lip Stain in Cerise and Plumpissimo Le Gloss in Rose (pictured).  It has tiny glittering pink flecks that aren't gritty and it plumps without making your lips feel like they are on fire!

Lise Watier is available online in the States and Europe, go here to check it out!

Vasanti Cosmetics is not only Canadian owned and operated, but all the products are made in Canada - you don't find much of that anymore!  Their colours are fun, the quality is great and you won't go broke buying it!

I'm a fan of their Lip & Cheek Stain in Monsoon, the Go Canada! Palette and my new found love, Eye Wonder (pictured).

This is an easy one for everyone to get, go here.

Marcelle/Annabelle - see how I snuck in 7 brands by combining these two together!?  Since they are made by the same company I figured it was okay - and since I love them for different reasons, I couldn't choose just one!

Marcelle is a Quebec based company who are all about making good quality hypoallergenic and perfume free products suitable for people with sensitive skin.  They have both a skin care and cosmetic line.

From the skin care line I am especially fond of the Oil-Free Multi-Defense Lotion, Essential Face Cleansing Cloths and Climatik lip balm SPF 30.  The makeup line has great foundations and very wearable colours of lip, cheek and eye, including a great waterproof eye liner pencil.  Where the makeup really shines is their seasonal collections which always bring the wow!

Annabelle Cosmetics is strictly makeup and great makeup at that, at prices that anyone can afford.  Their claim to fame is the extensive array of eyeliner pencils - any colour you can think of they have.  New to the eyeliner line is the Smudgeliner which goes on so easily you would swear you were using a $30 pencil.  I also love the Custom Quad Magnetic Compact (shown) where you mix and match your own colours.  Makes it easy to get rid of colours you are tired of and replace with whatever is seasonal.  Not that I ever get rid of makeup but I hear some people do ;-)
US Residents can order either line with a $30 min order go here for info.

Barefoot Venus is an amazing bath & body line with scents to die for!
The body lotions (pictured) are wonderful smelling and so moisturizing.  I also find the scent last which you can't say about all brands.  My favourite scents are lilly-pilly - a fruity floral and lemon freckle - a vanilla-lemon.  I also love the Foot Therapy line (they have the best names) and the Lip Fables - lip balms that come in the most adorable tins!

No problem in ordering, they take US orders and you can go here to check it out.

I know, disappointing, not a single product with maple syrup or back bacon in it! What can you do, eh?
